Change Britain
Change Britain was a pressure group in the United Kingdom set up in 2016 by leaders of the Vote Leave campaign following the 2016 Referendum, in which 51.9% of participating voters voted in favour of leaving the European Union. History Change Britain was founded as a successor to the Vote Leave campaign, with support from many of its key figures, including Labour MP Gisela Stuart (Chair) and Conservative Boris Johnson. Its stated aim was "to campaign for a Brexit which takes back control of our laws, borders, money and trade". The group attracted criticism for seemingly dropping Vote Leave's pledge to increase spending on the National Health Service (NHS), but Gisela Stuart, chair of both organisations, reaffirmed this pledge in a speech to the House of Commons in 2017. Vote Leave
Vote Leave was a campaigning organisation that supported a "Leave" vote in the 2016 United Kingdom European Union membership referendum. On 13 April 2016 it was designated by the Electoral Commission as the official campaign in favour of leaving the European Union in the Referendum. Vote Leave was founded in October 2015 by political strategists Matthew Elliott and Dominic Cummings as a cross-party campaign. It involved Members of Parliament from the Conservative Party, Labour Party and the sole UKIP MP, Douglas Carswell along with MEP Daniel Hannan and Conservative peer Lord Lawson. Brexit Negotiations
Between 2017 and 2019, representatives of the United Kingdom and the European Union negotiated the terms for Brexit, the planned withdrawal of the UK from the EU. These negotiations arose following the decision of the Parliament of the United Kingdom to invoke Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union, following the UK's EU membership referendum on 23 June 2016. The negotiating period began on 29 March 2017, when the United Kingdom served the withdrawal notice under Article 50. The withdrawal was then planned to occur on 29 March 2019, two years after the date of notification, as specified by Article 50.
