Kalabushana Gajanayake Arachchige Somi Kalani Chandrika Siriwardena ( si, චන්ද්‍රිකා සිරිවර්ධන: born 11 November 1948), popularly as Chandrika Siriwardena, is a Sri Lankan songstress and playback singer. A pioneer artist in reality musical programs in Sri Lanka, she recorded the songs ''Midule Mal Sooriya Gaha Mudune'', ''Igillila Yanna Yan'' and ''Ranabima Marune'' in a career that spanned more than six decades. Personal life She was born on 11 November 1948 in Kandy as the third in a family with three siblings. Her father, Peter Siriwardena was an accomplished musician and an actor. He worked as a lecturer in music at the Government Women's Training College, Polgolla. Her mother Srimathi Karuna Devi was a music teacher as well as an actress. Saman Chandranath Weerasinghe (5 July 1947 – 15 February 2022: සමන් චන්ද්‍රනාත් වීරසිංහ), was an award-winning Sri Lankan journalist, lyricist, poet, and novelist. Considered one of the most iconic and prolific lyricists ever produced in the country, he contributed to more than 2,000 songs in a career that spanned more than five decades. Personal life He was born on 5 July 1947 in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. His father Wimal Weerasinghe was an Editor-in-Chief of Lankadeepa newspaper. Sirasa TV is a digital, terrestrial television network in Sri Lanka. It is the sister channel of ' TV One' (Previously MTV Channel and MTV Sports) which was established in 1992.
