Chandrama Saunta
Chandrama Santha (5 May 1938 – 25 June 2021) was an Indian politician who served in the Orissa Legislative Assembly from 1980 until 1990. A member of the Indian National Congress, she represented the Pottangi constituency. Biography Chandrama Santha was born on 5 May 1938. Her husband, , served in the Orissa Legislative Assembly in the 1950s and 1960s. Santha worked as a farmer and was a part-time social worker. A member of the Indian National Congress, she was active in the Bhoodan movement and held several local government and party positions, serving on Pottangi's panchayat samiti; as president of the Koraput branch of the All India Mahila Congress; and as an executive member of the women's committee of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee. The dowry system in India refers to the durable goods, cash, and real or movable property that the bride's family gives to the groom, his parents and his relatives as a condition of the marriage. Dowry is referred to dahez in Hindi and as ''jahez'' in Urdu. The dowry system can put great financial burden on the bride's family. In some cases, the dowry system leads to crime against women, ranging from emotional abuse and injury to even deaths. Naveen Patnaik
Naveen Patnaik (born 16 October 1946) is an Indian politician serving as the current and 14th Chief Minister of Odisha. He is also the president of the Biju Janata Dal, a writer and has authored three books. He is the longest-serving chief minister of Odisha and as of 2022, one of the longest-serving chief ministers of any Indian state, holding the post for over two decades, and only the third Indian chief Minister after Pawan Chamling and Jyoti Basu to win five consecutive terms as Chief Minister of an Indian state. Koraput District
Koraput is a district of India in southern Odisha, with headquarters at Koraput. The district is located in the Eastern Ghats and is known for its hilly terrain, rich and diverse types of mineral deposits and its tribal culture and traditions. The district headquarters town of Koraput and its largest city, Jeypore are major centres of trade and commerce for South Odisha and fall on an important road connecting Visakhapatnam to Raipur.
