''Champions'' is an American television sitcom created by Charlie Grandy and Mindy Kaling that premiered on NBC on March 8, 2018. The series stars Anders Holm, Fortune Feimster, Andy Favreau, Josie Totah, and Mouzam Makkar. On June 29, 2018, NBC canceled the series after one season. Premise Vince, a charismatic gym owner, is living every bachelor's dream with his younger brother Matthew in Brooklyn, New York. He lives a simple life, dates an endless string of women, until his high school fling Priya drops off their 15-year-old son Michael. Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Yassir Lester (born June 22, 1984) is an American stand-up comedian, writer, and actor. He was on the writing staff for ''The Carmichael Show'' and ''Girls''. He is best known for his role as Chris in '' Making History'', and a role as a stockbroker, also named Yassir, in the 2019 Showtime series ''Black Monday''. Early life Lester was born in Miami, Florida. As a child, his family relocated to Marietta, Georgia. His mother is African-American and his father is Palestinian. Maggie Carey (born ) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer and actress. She has directed comedy shorts for television, and she wrote and directed the 2013 film ''The To Do List''. Early life and education Carey was raised in Boise, Idaho. She attended Jackson Elementary and West Junior High and graduated from Borah High School in 1993. Of her high school experience, Carey said, "I was in every AP class possible. I played a ton of sports. I was in student council. I was an all-American soccer player."
