Challengers (film)
''Challengers'' is an upcoming American romantic sports comedy drama film directed by Luca Guadagnino and written by Justin Kuritzkes. The film stars Zendaya, Josh O'Connor and Mike Faist. Its plot follows a Grand Slam tennis champion who signs up to compete in a challenger event against the former lover of his wife and coach. ''Challengers'' is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 26, 2024 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It was delayed from its initial September 15, 2023 release date, and pulled out from its slot as the opening film of the 80th Venice International Film Festival, due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Luca Guadagnino
Luca Guadagnino (; born 10 August 1971) is an Italian film director, producer, and screenwriter. His films are often characterized by their emotional complexities, sensuality and sumptuous visuals. He is also known for his frequent collaborations with actors Tilda Swinton, Timothée Chalamet and Michael Stuhlbarg, editor Walter Fasano and screenwriter David Kajganich. Born in Palermo, Guadagnino spent part of his childhood in Ethiopia, but emigrated back to Italy with his family to escape the Ethiopian Civil War. He began his career directing short films and documentaries. He made his feature-film debut with '' The Protagonists'' (1999), the first of his many collaborations with Swinton. Dubbing (re-recording and mixing) is a post-production process used in filmmaking and video production, often in concert with sound design, in which additional or supplementary recordings are lip-synced and "mixed" with original production sound to create the finished soundtrack. Brad Gilbert (born August 9, 1961) is a former professional tennis player and an American tennis coach. During his career, he won 20 singles titles and achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 4 in 1990, and a career-high doubles ranking of world No. 18 four years prior.
