Chalk carving is the practice and shaping of chalk via carving . This article covers some methods, types of chalk, tools used and the benefits (and ramifications) of this material. The benefits of this material are also its drawbacks. Its main benefit, its softness, makes it very easy to manipulate. Chalk
Chalk is a soft, white, porous, sedimentary carbonate rock. It is a form of limestone composed of the mineral calcite and originally formed deep under the sea by the compression of microscopic plankton that had settled to the sea floor. Hill Figure
A hill figure is a large visual representation created by cutting into a steep hillside and revealing the underlying geology. It is a type of geoglyph usually designed to be seen from afar rather than above. In some cases trenches are dug and rubble made from material brighter than the natural bedrock is placed into them.
