Chain mail (properly called mail or maille but usually called chain mail or chainmail) is a type of armour consisting of small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh. It was in common military use between the 3rd century BC and the 16th century AD in Europe, and longer in Asia and North Africa. A coat of this armour is often called a hauberk, and sometimes a byrnie. Chain Letter
A chain letter is a message that attempts to convince the recipient to make a number of copies and pass them on to a certain number of recipients. The "chain" is an exponentially growing pyramid (a tree graph) that cannot be sustained indefinitely. Common methods used in chain letters include emotionally manipulative stories, get-rich-quick pyramid schemes, and the exploitation of superstition to threaten the recipient. Originally, chain letters were letters sent by mail; today, chain letters are often sent electronically via email, social network sites, and text messages. A hoax could be malicious, instructing users to delete a file necessary to the operating system by claiming it is a virus. Chainmail (game)
''Chainmail'' is a medieval miniature wargame created by Gary Gygax and Jeff Perren. Gygax developed the core medieval system of the game by expanding on rules authored by his fellow Lake Geneva Tactical Studies Association (LGTSA) member Perren, a hobby-shop owner with whom he had become friendly. Guidon Games released the first edition of ''Chainmail'' in 1971. Early history Origins In 1967, Henry Bodenstedt created the medieval wargame '' Siege of Bodenburg'', which was designed for use with 40mm miniatures. Gary Gygax first encountered ''Siege of Bodenburg'' at Gen Con I (1968), and played the game during that convention. The rules for ''Siege of Bodenburg'' had been published in '' Strategy & Tactics'' magazine, and Jeff Perren developed his own medieval rules based on those and shared them with Gary Gygax. ''Chain Mail'' is a 2015 Filipino mystery horror film starring Meg Imperial, Shy Carlos and Nadine Lustre. It was released on July 22, 2015, by VIVA Films. It was directed and co-written by Adolfo Alix Jr. The film earned negative reviews from film critics. Synopsis The movie follows a group of people who receive a chain letter. Some of them forward it along as requested, but some just ignore it. Subsequent events suggest the letter is cursed, resulting in people dying brutal and bloody deaths. Gift (Curve Album)
''Gift'' is the fourth studio album to be released by the British band Curve. Following two years of legal wrangles between the group and their then record company, Universal Records, the online success of Curve's self-released album '' Open Day at the Hate Fest'' convinced Universal - who had been threatening to shelve the album completely - to market it in the United States in 2001 under the Hip-O Records brand. The UK version was released a year later by FatLip Recordings in collaboration with Artful Records. A year after that, the album was released in Australia by Hoop Culture Records. The album was co-produced by Ben Grosse and Curve. "Chain Mail" is a song by Mancunian band James, released in March 1986 by Sire Records, the first after the band defected from Factory Records. The record is the band's first single after their first three EPs, and was released in two different versions, as 7-inch and 12-inch singles, with different artworks by John Carroll and, confusingly, under different names. The 12" version was released as "Sit Down, three songs by... James", even though it did not contain the later James hit, " Sit Down", which in 1986 had not been written yet. The only difference between the two versions musically was the inclusion of the song "Uprising" on the 12" version. Neither song made it onto James's debut album, ''Stutter'', although live versions of "Chain Mail" and "Hup-Springs" were later included in the live album ''One Man Clapping''.
