The Sri Lanka cricket team, Ceylon cricket team toured India in December 1932 and January 1933. British Ceylon, Ceylon did not then have Test cricket, Test status, but two three-day unofficial Tests were played, both of which were drawn. The tour also included four other first-class cricket, first-class matches and four minor matches. It was the first tour abroad by a Ceylonese team. The victories against Patiala cricket team, Patiala and Central Provinces and Berar cricket team, Central Provinces and Berar were Ceylon's first victories in first-class matches. Sri Lanka Cricket Team
The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, ( si, ශ්‍රී ලංකා ජාතික ක්‍රිකට් කණ්ඩායම, ta, இலங்கை தேசிய கிரிக்கெட் அணி) nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played international cricket (as Ceylon) in 1926–27, and were later awarded Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket playing nation. The team is administered by Sri Lanka Cricket. Sri Lanka's national cricket team achieved considerable success beginning in the 1990s, rising from underdog status to winning the Cricket World Cup in 1996, under the captaincy of Arjuna Ranatunga.
