Centro De Investigaciones Sociológicas
The Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas ("Centre for Sociological Research") or CIS is a Spanish public research institute. It was founded in 1963 as the Instituto de la Opinión Pública, and in 1977, after the Spanish general election, 1977, Spanish general election in that year, acquired its present name. The institute publishes the ''Revista Española de Investigaciones Sociológicas'' and various series of books. Since 2018, the President of the CIS is José Félix Tezanos. References

Spanish General Election, 1977
The 1977 Spanish general election was held on Wednesday, 15 June 1977, to elect the Spanish Cortes of the Kingdom of Spain. All 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies were up for election, as well as all 207 seats in the Senate. It was the first free election held in Spain since 1936, prior to the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. José Félix Tezanos
José Félix Tezanos Tortajada (born 1946) is a Spanish sociologist, politician, and professor. He serves as President of the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS) since 2018. Biography Born on 5 August 1946 in Santander, he obtained a PhD degree in Political Science and Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). He became a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) in 1973, and became linked to the ''guerrista'' faction within the party. He has held the chair of Sociology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the National University of Distance Education (UNED), where he founded and launched the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, of which he was the first Dean. Prior to the latter, he taught at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid (from 1974 to 1986).
