Centre Pour La Communication Scientifique Directe
The Centre pour la Communication Scientifique Directe (CCSD) is a French organization of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) devoted to the development of the open access repositories HAL, TEL and MediHal, and the web platform SciencesConf.org. It is involved in the international open access movement. Presentation The CCSD (translated by Centre for Direct Scientific Communication) was founded in 2000 by CNRS. Its main activity is focused on the development and exploitation of the open archive for scholarly publications HAL, and for thesis and dissertations TEL. They comply with the Open Archive Initiative (OAI-PMH). In 2006, French universities, engineering schools and research institutions decided to set up a shared archive based on HAL, adopting the common references of the archive. HAL is a common archive that is available in several environments: institutional (Hal-INRIA or Hal-INSERM), thematic (Hal-SHS for the humanities and social sciences, for ex ...

Hyper Articles En Ligne
HAL (short for ''Hyper Articles en Ligne'') is an open archive where authors can deposit scholarly documents from all academic fields. It has a very good position in the international web repository ranking. History HAL was started in 2001 by Franck Laloë, then at Ecole Normal Superieure, and is run by the ''Centre pour la communication scientifique directe'', a French computing centre, which is part of the French National Centre for Scientific Research, CNRS. Other French institutions, such as INRIA, have joined the system. While it is primarily directed towards French academics, participation is not restricted to them. Public use Documents in HAL are uploaded either by one of the authors with the consent of the others or by an authorized person on their behalf. Since 2017 it's also possible to use Dissem.in, a tool for easy and semi-automated deposit. HAL is a tool for direct scientific communication between academics. A text posted to HAL is normally comparable to t ...

Open Access
Open access (OA) is a set of principles and a range of practices through which research outputs are distributed online, free of access charges or other barriers. With open access strictly defined (according to the 2001 definition), or libre open access, barriers to copying or reuse are also reduced or removed by applying an open license for copyright. The main focus of the open access movement is "peer reviewed research literature". Historically, this has centered mainly on print-based academic journals. Whereas non-open access journals cover publishing costs through access tolls such as subscriptions, site licenses or pay-per-view charges, open-access journals are characterised by funding models which do not require the reader to pay to read the journal's contents, relying instead on author fees or on public funding, subsidies and sponsorships. Open access can be applied to all forms of published research output, including peer-reviewed and non peer-reviewed academic journa ...

Open Archives Initiative Protocol For Metadata Harvesting
The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) is a protocol developed for harvesting metadata descriptions of records in an archive so that services can be built using metadata from many archives. An implementation of OAI-PMH must support representing metadata in Dublin Core, but may also support additional representations. The protocol is usually just referred to as the OAI Protocol. OAI-PMH uses XML over HTTP. Version 2.0 of the protocol was released in 2002; the document was last updated in 2015. It has a Creative Commons license BY-SA. History In the late 1990s, Herbert Van de Sompel (Ghent University) was working with researchers and librarians at Los Alamos National Laboratory (US) and called a meeting to address difficulties related to interoperability issues of Print server, e-print servers and digital library, digital repositories. The meeting was held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in October 1999. A key development from the meeting was the definit ...

Isidore (platform)
ISIDORE is an online platform that allows research and access to human and social sciences digital data. It's a research assistant for humanists. Creation ISIDORE was created in 2009 by the CNRS, using its "Adonis large equipment" facilities, with participation from french companies Antidot, Sword and Mondeca. It is now fully integrated to the Huma-Num research infrastructure for humanities and social sciences. Usage ISIDORE harvests metadata and fulltext documents indexes them as digital data by enriching them with scientific terms and references (like thesaurus, taxonomies, etc.) in 3 languages: French, English and Spanish. It is edited as a web portalisidore.science an API and a SPARQL endpoint that allows access to enriched data in RDF. ISIDORE is available also like a WP plugin, called ISIDORE Suggestions.See https://fr.wordpress.org/plugins/isidore-suggestions/ ISIDORE is one of the digital platforms engaged in the sharing of scientific open data and promote FAIR Data. ...
