Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) is a central university located in Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu. History CUTN was established by the Government of India in 2009 under the ''Central Universities Act, 2009''. It was inaugurated in September 2009 and B. P. Sanjay has been appointed the first vice-chancellor (VC). Aditya Prasad Dash was appointed VC in August 2015. G. Padmanabhan replaced V. Krishnamurthy as Chancellor in July 2018. Karpaga Kumaravel replaced Aditya Prasad Dash as acting VC in August 2020. A selection panel for a new VC was set in October 2020 and a shortlist was submitted in January 2021 but , no VC was appointed. Prof. M. Krishnan has joined as new regular VC of CUTN on 6th August, 2021. Thiruvarur district is one of the 38 districts in the Tamil Nadu state of India. As of 2011, the district had a population of 1,264,277 with a sex-ratio of 1,017 females for every 1,000 males. Vinayak Sasikumar (born 13 June 1994) is an Indian lyricist, who works in Malayalam cinema. Personal life He was born in Trivandrum, Kerala to S. Sasikumar and Asha Sasikumar. At the age of 12, he started writing poetry. Later, he moved to Chennai and completed his graduation in Economics from Loyola College, Chennai. He completed his post-graduation from Madras School of Economics. After a span wherein he worked for Ford Motors as a data scientist, he moved to Kochi as a full-time lyricist. National Institutional Ranking Framework
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Education (India), Ministry of Education, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The Framework was approved by the MHRD and launched by Minister of Human Resource Development on 29 September 2015. Depending on their areas of operation, institutions have been ranked under 11 different categories – overall, university, colleges, engineering, management, pharmacy, law, medical, architecture, dental and research. The Framework uses several parameters for ranking purposes like resources, research, and stakeholder perception. These parameters have been grouped into five clusters and these clusters were assigned certain weightages. The weightages depend on the type of institution. University Grants Commission (India)
University Grants Commission (UGC) is a statutory body set up by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India in accordance to the UGC Act 1956 and is charged with coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of higher education in India. It provides recognition to universities in India, and disbursements of funds to such recognized universities and colleges. The headquarters are in New Delhi, and it has six regional centres in Pune, Bhopal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bangalore. A proposal to replace it with another new regulatory body called HECI is under consideration by the Government of India.
