Central State Marauders
The Central State Marauders and Lady Marauders are the athletic teams that represent Central State University, located in Wilberforce, Ohio, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) since the 2015–16 academic year (with football joining first as an affiliate member from 2013–14 to 2015 before upgrading for all sports). The Marauders and Lady Marauders previously competed in the D-II Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) from 2012–13 to 2014–15, and as an NCAA D-II Independent from 2002–03 to 2011–12; as well as competing in the American Mideast Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) from 2000–01 to 2001–02. Central State University
Central State University (CSU) is a public, historically black land-grant university in Wilberforce, Ohio. It is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Established by the state legislature in 1887 as a two-year program for teacher and industrial training, it was originally located with Wilberforce University, a four-year institution devoted to classical academic education. It was originally known as the Combined Normal and Industrial Department. In 1941 the college gained a four-year curriculum, independent status in 1947, and was renamed as Central State College in 1951. With further development, it gained university status in 1965. Rick Comegy
Rick Comegy (born September 24, 1953) is an American former college football and college baseball coach. On January 21, 2014, Comegy was introduced as the head coach at Mississippi Valley State. He previously served as the head football coach at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi from 2006 to 2013. He was named JSU head coach on December 9, 2005 after ten years as head coach of Tuskegee University, where he compiled a 90–26 record. He has also served as head coach of Cheyney University and Central State University, where he won the NAIA national football championship in 1995. He served as an assistant coach at Central State University under former Cheyney/Central State/Florida A&M coach Billy Joe in the 80s and 90s. Kerwin Waldroup
Kerwin Waldroup (born August 1, 1974) is a former professional American football player who played defensive end for three seasons for the Detroit Lions. He initially played college football at University of Michigan before transferring and finishing at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He is a graduate of Rich Central High School. Following his football career, he served jail time for child abuse. Career Waldroup was born on August 1, 1974, in Country Club Hills, Illinois. He was a member of the 1992, 1993 and 1994 Michigan Wolverines, wearing the number 59. He recorded no stats in 1992, and only one tackle in 1993. Hugh Lamont Douglas (born August 23, 1971) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League and former football analyst for the ESPN television network. Erik George Williams (born September 7, 1968) is a former American football offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens. Vincent Lamont Buck (born January 12, 1968 in Owensboro, Kentucky) is a former American football safety in the National Football League for the New Orleans Saints. NAIA Football National Championship
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Football National Championship is decided by a post-season playoff system featuring the best NAIA college football teams in the United States. Under sponsorship of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the championship game has been played annually since 1956. In 1970, NAIA football was divided into two divisions, Division I and Division II, with a championship game played in each division. In 1997, NAIA football was again consolidated into one division.
