Central Rivers TMD
Central Rivers TMD (also known as Barton-under-Needwood CMD) is a railway maintenance depot, located in Barton-under-Needwood, south-west of Burton on Trent, England. It was built by Bombardier Transportation as the central maintenance facility for the Class 220 and 221 '' Voyagers'' then being delivered to Virgin CrossCountry. It came into operation on 8 September 2001. The nearest railway station is Burton on Trent. This site was chosen due to being close to Virgin Cross Country's Birmingham hub as well as being relatively close to Derby and Crewe. The depot's facilities include inspection and working pits, hoisting facilities, train washing and refueling is designed for a planned turnaround of up to 20 serviced trains per night. The Virgin CrossCountry franchise finished in November 2007, however Central Rivers continues to maintain the ''Voyagers'' for its successor CrossCountry as well as Avanti West Coast. Barton-under-Needwood
Barton-under-Needwood is a large village in the East Staffordshire district of Staffordshire, England. Situated a mile from the A38, and located between Burton upon Trent and Lichfield. It had a population of 4,225 at the 2011 census. It is also near to the Derbyshire village of Walton-on-Trent. History The Tudor church of St James is a Grade II* listed building. It dates from 1517 and was built by Dr John Taylor, a native of the village, noted ecclesiastic, and chaplain to Henry VIII. It is built of stone with embattled parapets. The aisles were widened in the 19th century. It also has a clerestory and a polygonal apse. Both nave and chancel retain their original low pitched roofs. The church contains several monuments, notably including a 1691 alabaster mural monument to Joseph Sanders and a marble tablet to Edmund Antrobus (1732) and his wife (1728). Lichfield Trent Valley is a railway station on the outskirts of the city of Lichfield in Staffordshire, England. It is one of two stations in Lichfield, the other being in the city-centre. It is a split-level station, with low level platforms served by the Trent Valley section of the West Coast Main Line, and a single high level platform, which is the northern terminus of the Cross-City Line. Avanti West Coast is a train operating company in the United Kingdom owned by FirstGroup (70%) and Trenitalia (30%) that operates the West Coast Partnership franchise. During November 2016, the Department for Transport (DfT) announced the InterCity West Coast franchise would be replaced by the West Coast Partnership (WCP). In August 2019, the DfT awarded the WCP franchise to the ''First Trenitalia'' consortium. CrossCountry (legal name XC Trains Limited) is a train operating company in the United Kingdom owned by Arriva UK Trains, operating the Cross Country franchise.
