''Central Rio'' (German: ''Zentrale Rio'') is a 1939 German crime film directed by Erich Engels and starring Leny Marenbach, Camilla Horn and Ita Rina.Noack p.157 The film's sets were designed by the art director Willi Herrmann. It was shot at the Terra Studios in Berlin and on location in Hamburg. Synopsis A German woman's husband has been missing for years, presumed dead. Then she receives information that is alive and living in Brazil. She resolves to travel to Rio de Janeiro to find out the truth. Marianne Simson
Marianne Simson (July 29, 1920 – July 15, 1992) was a German dancer and film actress. She was born in Berlin as the daughter of an insurance clerk John Edward Simson. Her brother was Helmut Simson, who later served as mayor of Wolfsburg. Originally trained as a ballerina, she made her screen debut in '' Frisions in Distress'' (1935) and went on to appear in another seventeen films over the next decade, generally in supporting roles. In 1944 she informed on a Germany army major to the Gestapo for allegedly making comments supportive of the 20 July plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler.Barker p.182 Following the defeat of Germany, Simson was arrested by the Soviet NKVD and placed in a series of detention camps. Reinhold Bernt
Reinhold Bernt (19 December 1902 – 26 October 1981) was a German film actor. Bernt was born Reinhold Bienert in Berlin and died in West Berlin. Career Bernt's acting career began in Stuttgart with a theater debut. Soon after, he traveled to Berlin. There, he founded a troupe known as the "Group of Young Actors" with his brother, Gerhard Bernt. He performed across Berlin and entered the film industry in the 1930s. he was not only an actor, but also an assistant director and screenwriter. He appeared in some Nationalist Socialist propaganda films, such as ''Im Namen des Volkes'' (In the Name of the People). After World War II, he performed at the Schillertheater and in Deutsche Film-Aktiengesellschaft (DEFA). It became harder to obtain large roles, so he began to act increasingly as supporting characters. eventually, he moved on to voicing radio plays, performing a total of 320 roles. Leonhard "Leo" Peukert (26 August 1885 – 6 January 1944) was a prolific German film actor and film director, appearing in more than a hundred and fifty productions between 1910 and his death in 1944. Iván Petrovich ( sr, Иван Петровић, Ivan Petrović; 1 January 1894 – 18 October 1962) was a Serbian film actor and singer. He was the first actor from Yugoslavia to have a successful international movie career. Petrovich mainly worked in German cinema, but also collaborated with established directors in some 100 Hungarian, French, Spanish, Czechoslovakian and Hollywood movies. Werner Fuetterer
Werner Fuetterer (10 January 1907 in Barth, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – 7 February 1991 in Benidorm, Province of Alicante, Spain) was a German film actor. He appeared in nearly 100 films between 1925 and 1967. In his early film career, Fuetterer often played young romantic lovers, but never managed the breakthrough to stardom. He later turned to character and supporting roles, often as the main characters best friend. Fuetterer remains perhaps best known for his role as the Archangel in F. W. Murnau's silent film classic ''Faust'' (1926). He later retired from acting and managed a camping facility in Spain, where he died in 1991 at age 84.
