Central Presbyterian Church (Hamilton)
Central Presbyterian Church is a Presbyterian Church in Canada congregation in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, located in the downtown area at the corner of Charlton (165 Charlton Avenue West) and Caroline Street South. History The congregation was formed in 1841, as a part of the United Presbyterian Church of Scotland's Canadian Synod, and had been served monthly since 1837 from nearby West Flamboro by the UPC's pioneer missionary to the region, Thomas Christie. The congregation first met in a former schoolhouse in downtown Hamilton, with close proximity to two larger Presbyterian congregations, St Andrew's (now St. Paul's), the large Church of Scotland congregation, and MacNab Street Presbyterian Church (Hamilton), the second "Free Church". Central Presbyterian Church is a historic church located at 46 Park Street in Montclair, New Jersey, United States. The church was built in 1921 and dedicated on Oct. 15, 1922. Located on the northeast corner of Brazos and Eighth Street, Central Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas. Central Presbyterian Church is a member of Mission Presbytery, in the Synod of the Sun region of the Presbyterian Church (USA). It maintains a program of ministry, outreach, and cultural events. It has presented free concerts weekly since 1980, and since 2006 the church has been a venue for the SXSW Music Festival. History The congregation traces its roots to October 13, 1839, when Austin's first Presbyterian worship service was held at Bullock's hotel. The City of Austin was chartered two and a half months later, December 27, 1839. Present at that service was builder Abner Cook, elder in the first Presbyterian church organized in Austin. Central Presbyterian Church (New York City)
Central Presbyterian Church is a historic congregation on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City, founded by pastor and abolitionist William Patton in 1821. It is a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and it worships in a Gothic Revival structure completed in 1922 that was originally commissioned and largely funded by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. as Park Avenue Baptist Church. Today, Central is a culturally diverse body of more than 500 people, including seasoned leaders, many families, and a dynamic body of students, young professionals, and artists. The church currently hosts Sunday services as well as lectures, seminars, and chamber music concerts. Central Presbyterian Church of Little Rock was located in the Quapaw Quarter area of Little Rock. The original Central Presbyterian Church building is Christ Temple Cathedral, formerly the home of Central Presbyterian Church, is a historic church building at 1921 Arch Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was built in 1921 to a design by Thompson & Harding in Late Gothic Revival architecture, Late Gothic Revival and Bungalow/Craftsman architecture, Bungalow/Craftsman style. Its exterior is clad in yellow brick, with half-timbered stuccoed elements in its gable ends. Its main entrance consists of three segmented-arch openings, set in a projecting section between two brick piers with stone banding. The present church congregation using this building is affiliated with the United Church of Christ.
