Central Peace-Notley
Central Peace-Notley is a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. The district was one of 87 districts mandated to return a single member (MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting. It was contested for the first time in the 2019 Alberta election. The riding takes its name from its central location in the Peace River Country and from Grant Notley, who represented the region in the Legislature from 1971 to 1984 while serving as leader of the Alberta New Democratic Party. Geography Central Peace-Notley is a largely rural riding located in northwestern Alberta. There are no cities in the riding. Urban municipalities include the towns of Fairview, Falher, Fox Creek, McLennan, Spirit River, and Valleyview, and the villages of Berwyn, Donnelly, Girouxville, Hines Creek, and Rycroft. Todd Loewen
Douglas Todd Loewen (born September 16, 1966) is a Canadian politician and the Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Central Peace-Notley. Loewen was first elected in 2015 as a member of the Wildrose Party for the electoral district of Grande Prairie-Smoky. He was afterward elected in Central Peace-Notley as a member of the United Conservative Party and briefly sat as an independent until being welcomed back by premier Danielle Smith. On June 1, 2022, Loewen registered his candidacy in the 2022 United Conservative Party leadership election, which was held on October 6, 2022. He finished fifth. Early life Todd Loewen moved to the Valleyview area at a young age, in 1967, with his parents and two brothers where he lived on a farm and homestead. Fox Creek, Alberta
Fox Creek is a town in northwest Alberta, Canada. It is located on Highway 43, approximately northwest of Edmonton and southeast of Grande Prairie, and has an elevation of . Fox Creek is within the Upper Peace planning region, and is surrounded by the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16. History On June 6, 1952, the townsite for a future community was selected by Ryan Krause and Victor Heath. It was named ''Fox Creek'' after the watercourse adjacent to the western edge of the townsite, which drains towards Iosegun Lake to the north. The original survey of the townsite occurred over three days in late October, 1955. At the same time, a townsite for another future community was surveyed to the north of Fox Creek on Iosegun Lake's eastern shore. Rycroft, Alberta
Rycroft is a village in northern Alberta, Canada. It is approximately north of Grande Prairie and east of Spirit River. Dunvegan Provincial Park is located 20 km north of the community. The post office was originally known as Spirit River. The name was changed to Roycroft in 1920 to honour R.H. Roycroft, a prominent local citizen, and was altered to Rycroft in 1933. Donnelly is a village in northern Alberta, Canada within the Municipal District of Smoky River No. 130. It is located near the intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 49, located approximately south of Peace River and northwest of Edmonton.
