Central Medford High School (formerly Medford Opportunity High School) is a public alternative high school in Medford, Oregon, United States. In 2010 the school moved from its original location on Earhart Street to a new location on Oakdale Avenue in Medford. It occupied part of the old South Medford High School (which is now located on Cunningham Avenue in Medford). In 2020 the school relocated to its current location on Royal Avenue in Medford, occupying the previous location of Grace Christian campus. Medford, Oregon
Medford is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Oregon, in the United States. As of the 2020 United States Census on April 1, 2020, the city had a total population of 85,824 and a metropolitan area population of 223,259, making the Medford MSA the fourth largest metro area in Oregon. The city was named in 1883 by David Loring, civil engineer and right-of-way agent for the Oregon and California Railroad, after Medford, Massachusetts, which was near Loring's hometown of Concord, Massachusetts. Medford is near the middle ford of Bear Creek. History In 1883, a group of railroad surveyors headed by S. L. Dolson and David Loring arrived in Rock Point, near present-day Gold Hill. South Medford High School
South Medford High School is a public high school in Medford, Oregon, United States. History The South Medford campus was originally built in 1931 as Medford High School. Then in the 1960s, the school was divided between two campuses. Medford High became Medford Mid High, serving grades 9 and 10, with grades 11 and 12 going to a newly constructed campus, known as Medford Senior High, which is the current North Medford High School campus. This system was primarily used to allow Medford's football team to compete against schools in large cities such as Portland. The Panther mascot and school colors were chosen by a 1985 vote of the students in the 549-C school district. Panthers won out over Cyclones and Lions among other choices. John Richard Kasich Jr. ( ; born May 13, 1952) is an American politician, author, and television news host who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 to 2001 and as the 69th governor of Ohio from 2011 to 2019. Alternative High School
Alternative High School (AHS) is a public senior high (secondary) school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; which teaches grades 10 through 12. AHS is currently located at the Clinton Ford Centre, which was home to the former Clinton Ford Elementary School. AHS was launched, independent of the board, in September 1974 by a parents group. It reflected many of the "alternative education" ideas that were popular at the time. The early philosophy the school borrowed from the ideas of A. S. Neill, who founded Summerhill School.
