Central Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, established in 2009, ran eight hospitals in Manchester and Trafford: Manchester Royal Infirmary, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Saint Mary's Hospital, Manchester, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and University Dental Hospital of Manchester in Manchester, and Trafford General Hospital, Altrincham Hospital and Stretford Memorial Hospital in Trafford. It is a teaching hospital of the School of Medicine, University of Manchester and one of the Shelford Group. Sir Mike Deegan was Chief Executive from 2001. He was reckoned by the Health Service Journal to be the 54th most influential person in the English NHS in 2015. Manchester Convalescent Home
Barnes Hospital in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, England, is a former hospital. It is on the border between Manchester and Stockport, near the A34 road in the middle of the complex interchange between Kingsway, the M60 and M56 motorway. The main building is Grade II listed, and lies on green belt land. The building, completed in 1875, is a noted example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture and a prominent landmark, sitting on a mount overlooking the surrounding roads. The hospital closed in 1999, and although the building was promptly listed to protect it from demolition, it became derelict. The former hospital building has now been converted into flats and is at the centre of a new housing development called Barnes Village. Anshen and Allen was an international architecture, planning and design firm headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Boston, Columbus, and London. The School of Medical Sciences at the University of Manchester is one of the largest in the United Kingdom with around 6,000 undergraduates, 3,000 postgraduates and 2,000 staff. North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) is a large NHS hospital in Crumpsall, North Manchester, England. It is operated by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Sir Jonathan Michael is a British nephrologist and medical executive. From 2000 to 2007, he was the chief executive of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust where he received his medical training, qualifying in 1970, before his 20-year career as a clinical nephrologist. He spent much of his medical career at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, before becoming first medical director and chief executive of University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust.
