Central Hillside is a neighborhood in Duluth, Minnesota, United States; located directly uphill from the city's downtown. The neighborhood offers views of the city and lake. Duluth's Mesaba Avenue ( Highway 194) travels through the Central Hillside neighborhood. Many residents consider the area west of Mesaba Avenue to be the ''Observation Hill'' neighborhood, which is not included on official city maps. Mesaba Avenue, Lake Avenue, and Fourth Street are three of the main routes in the community. Central Hillside has notable architectural gems, including the Sacred Heart Center on Fourth Street. Buckingham Creek flows through the neighborhood near 12th Avenue West. Minnesota State Highway 194 (MN 194) is a highway in northeast Minnesota, which runs from its intersection with U.S. Highway 2 in Solway Township (near Hermantown) and continues east to its eastern terminus at its Mesaba Avenue interchange with Interstate Highway 35 in downtown Duluth. For part of its route, it runs together with U.S. Highway 53. The route passes through the cities of Hermantown and Duluth. Sacred Heart Cathedral, Sacred Heart School And Christian Brothers Home
Sacred Heart Cathedral, Sacred Heart School and Christian Brothers Home comprise a former Roman Catholic diocesan complex in the Central Hillside neighborhood of Duluth, Minnesota, United States. Sacred Heart Cathedral was built from 1894 to 1896 and served as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Duluth until 1957, after which it became a parish church. Sacred Heart School was built in 1904 and the Christian Brothers Home—a monastic residence for the school faculty—was built in 1907. With In 1985 the diocese merged the parish into another and sold off the Sacred Heart buildings. With The cathedral is now the Sacred Heart Music Center, a performance and event venue. The school has been repurposed as the Damiano Center, an ecumenical provider of social services. The monastery is now Alicia's Place, which offers Section 8 housing for homeless women. East Hillside is a neighborhood in the City of Duluth, Minnesota, United States. East 4th Street serves as one of the main thoroughfares in the community, as well as a small business corridor. Lincoln Park (Duluth)
Lincoln Park is one of the larger neighborhoods (in terms of area) in the city of Duluth, Minnesota, United States. Lincoln Park is situated between Garfield Avenue to the ore docks at Carlton Street / 34th Avenue West. The neighborhood stretches up the hill to Skyline Parkway. ''Lincoln Park'' also refers to a large park within the neighborhood.
