Central High School is a public high school in San Angelo, Texas. It is part of the San Angelo Independent School District. The school serves grades 10–12, with a secondary campus for 9th grade. The secondary campus was incorporated as one school two campuses 2020-2021 school year. Its mascot is the Bobcat. The school serves much of San Angelo and the unincorporated community of Tankersley. Athletics With a reported enrollment of 2,993 (which combines the freshman campus and high school enrollments), the Bobcats of San Angelo Central compete with some of Texas' largest high schools as a member of Conference 6A of the University Interscholastic League, the state's governing body for public-school competition. Soccer The men's soccer team won the regional soccer tournament and went on to the state tournament in 2001. O.H. Cooper High School (commonly referred to as Abilene Cooper) is a public high school located in Abilene, Texas. It opened in 1960, in part to handle the increase in school age youth resulting from the Post World War II Baby Boom. It is one of three 4-year high schools within Abilene Independent School District. Cooper High is named for Oscar Henry Cooper, who was president of Baylor University from 1898 to 1902. Prior to such time, his advocacy for a state-supported and state-controlled university led to the establishment of the University of Texas. Abilene High School is a public high school located in Abilene, Texas. AHS is classified as a Division 5A school and is part of the Abilene Independent School District. Abilene High School is the name given to three different schools in the past 150 years. The first Abilene High was an old warehouse. Not long after that, the school was moved to what was the former Lincoln Middle School. In 1955, Abilene High was moved to its current location at N 6th and Mockingbird. Its main rival in sports is Cooper High School. The Abilene High Marching Band is accepted to be the oldest marching band in Texas. Midland High School (officially Midland Senior High School) is a public high school located in Midland, Texas and is part of Midland Independent School District. The original Midland High School was built in 1926 and was moved twenty-three years later to a new building in 1949 where it currently sits today. It was the subject of the book '' Friday Night Lights'', which in turn inspired a movie and TV series of the same name.
