Central Heating was the second compilation released by Grand Central Records. The two disc album was originally released in November 1996. It was re-released in February 2004 with alternative sleeve art. Afu Ra
Aaron Phillip (born January 31, 1974), better known by his stage name Afu-Ra, is an American underground rapper. A member of the Gang Starr Foundation, he has worked closely with its members, including Gang Starr, Jeru the Damaja, Big Shug and Group Home. Career Afu-Ra grew up in Brooklyn, with frequent collaborator Jeru the Damaja. Afu-Ra's first studio appearance was on Jeru's 1994 album ''The Sun Rises in the East'', on the song "Mental Stamina". He made another appearance on Jeru's second album ''Wrath of the Math'', on the track "Physical Stamina", in 1996. Afu's debut single, "Whirlwind Thru Cities", was released in 1998, reaching the top 20 on ''Billboard'''s Hot Rap Singles chart. In 1999, he released his second single, "Defeat" b/w "Mortal Kombat". Grand Central Records Compilation Albums
Grand Central Records was an independent record label based in the Northern Quarter of Manchester, England. It was started in 1995 by DJ Mark Rae (who, along with Steve Christian makes up the duo Rae & Christian). Rae started out working as manager of the Fat City Records' store (which is now also a record label). The two labels maintained a close relationship, co-hosting club nights including ''Friends and Family''. Grand Central also had a digital sub-label, GC3. As of May 2006, Grand Central Records ceased operating as a record label and the official website was closed down. The label was allegedly investigated by the MCPS with regard to unpaid royalties and the resultant bill was so large that it forced the label into liquidation. Andrew Turner, known by the recording name Aim, is a British musician, DJ and producer, who was born in Barrow-in-Furness. Aim's sound is a blend of funky electronic music and Hip hop music, hip hop beats, a sound which typified the Grand Central Records label. Funky Fresh Few are a hip-hop act from Blackpool, Lancashire, England, who started out as a graffiti crew called Imperial Arts. The band originally consisted of James Folks, Damon Savage and Timeone. Andrew "Andy Votel" Shallcross (born 4 November 1975 in Marple Bridge, Stockport, England) is an English musician, DJ, record producer, graphic designer and co-founder of Twisted Nerve Records and the reissue label Finders Keepers Records. As musician Violators of the English Language Votel began making music in the late 1980s as the youngest member of the group Violators of the English Language (from which the VOTEL stage name is derived). The group appeared on the Howard Jacobson BBC documentary Think of England in 1991 performing a rap song with a young DJ Semtex as a backing dancer.
