Central European Cup
The Central Europe Cup is an international cricket tournament played annually in Prague, Czech Republic, between invited teams from across central Europe. Organized by the Czech Cricket Union, and played at the Vinoř Cricket Ground, the tournament was first held in 2014 as a 50-over tournament and retained this format until it was changed to Twenty20 in 2019. As of 2022, Czech Republic and Poland have won the tournament on the most occasions (three times). Poland won the inaugural event in 2014, finishing ahead of Switzerland on the basis of their head-to-head record after the two teams ended the tournament level on points. The Poles retained the title in 2015. The 2016 tournament featured only three teams, with Poland not featuring, and was won by the hosts for the first time. Poland returned in 2017 and won the tournament for a third time. Switzerland claimed the title in 2018 winning all three of their matches. Czech Cricket Union
Czech Cricket Union ( Czech: Českomoravský Kriketový Svaz, ČMKS) is the official governing body of the sport of cricket in Czech Republic. Its current headquarters is in Prague, Czech Republic. Czech Cricket Union is the Czech Republic's representative at the International Cricket Council and is an associate member and has been a member of that body since 2000. It is also a member of the European Cricket Council. 2021 Central Europe Cup
The 2021 Central Europe Cup was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament played in Prague between 21 and 23 May 2021. The participating teams were the hosts Czech Republic, along with Austria and Luxembourg. Malta were also due to take part, but were forced to withdraw due on 6 May due to COVID-19 restrictions. The tournament was played in a double round-robin format, with all matches hosted at the Vinoř Cricket Ground in Prague. This was the seventh edition of the Central Europe Cup and the first to have T20I status. These were the first official T20I matches to be played in the Czech Republic since the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full T20I status to all competitive matches between its members from 1 January 2019. The Malta national cricket team is the team that represents the Republic of Malta in international cricket. Luxembourg National Cricket Team
The Luxembourg national cricket team is the team that represents Luxembourg in international cricket. The Luxembourg Cricket Federation became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1998 and an associate member in 2017. Ground Luxembourg's home ground is at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground, in Walferdange which belongs to the country's largest club, the Optimists Cricket Club. The ground is named after the late Pierre Werner, a former Prime Minister of Luxembourg (1959–74, 1979–84). Werner had fallen in love with cricket when living in London in 1930, and went on to become the Honorary President of the OCC, which had been established when he was Prime Minister. The International Cricket Council (ICC) was founded at Lord's on 15 June 1909 as the Imperial Cricket Conference, with Australia, England, and South Africa as its founding members. In the beginning, only countries within the Commonwealth could join. India, New Zealand and the West Indies joined in 1926, and Pakistan joined in 1953. A Twenty20 International (T20I) is a form of cricket, played between two of the international members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which each team faces a maximum of twenty overs. The matches have top-class status and are the highest T20 standard. The game is played under the rules of Twenty20 cricket. Starting from the format's inception in 2005, T20I status only applied to Full Members and some Associate Member teams. However, in April 2018, the ICC announced that it would grant T20I status to all its 105 members from 1 January 2019. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. A typical Twenty20 game is completed in about two and a half hours, with each innings lasting around 70 minutes and an official 10-minute break between the innings.
