The Central Ethiopia Regional State is a regional state in Ethiopia. It was formed from the then northern part of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) on 19 August 2023 after a successful referendum. Regions Of Ethiopia
Ethiopia is a federation subdivided into ethno-linguistically based regional states (Amharic: plural: ክልሎች ''kililoch''; singular: ክልል ''kilil''; Oromo: singular: ''Naannoo''; plural: ''Naannolee'') and chartered cities (Amharic: plural: አስተዳደር አካባቢዎች ''astedader akababiwoch''; singular: አስተዳደር አካባቢ ''astedader akabibi''). This system of administrative regions replaced the provinces of Ethiopia in 1992 under the Transitional Government of Ethiopia and was formalised in 1995 when the current Constitution of Ethiopia came into force. The regions are each governed by a regional council whose members are directly elected to represent woredas (districts). Each council has a president, who is elected by the council. Halaba
Halaba is a zone in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. It is named after the Halaba people, and covers part of their homeland. Located in the Great Rift Valley, Halaba zone is bordered on the south by an exclave of Hadiya Zone, on the southwest by the Kembata Tembaro Zone, on the west and north by Hadiya Zone, on the north east by Lake Shala, and on the east by Oromia Region; the Bilate River, which is its major body of water, defines its western boundary. The administrative center is Halaba Kulito. Overview Except for the portion that slopes down to the edge of Lake Shala, the elevation of this Zone ranges from 1700 to 2200 meters above sea level. Mudula
Mudula is a town in Central Ethiopia Regional State. This town has a latitude and longitude of with an elevation of 2100 meters above sea level. It is the largest town in Tembaro special woreda. In 1997 the teachers of the Mudula school found a new way to address the high female drop-out rate. They formed a Girls' Advisory Committee which noted when girls dropped out of school, visiting their homes and trying to persuade their parents to send the girls back to school. The approach was highly successful, and is now being followed by many other schools financed by the USAID Community Schools Grants Program. Many in the area are malnourished, and are susceptible to Malaria. In July 2003 World Vision began malaria control in their therapeutic feeding center (TFC) in Mudula. The TFC has reported that of the total admission of 153 severely malnourished children, 142 had proven cases of malaria. 225 parents were also treated for malaria. Yem Zone
Yem Zone is one of the zones in the Central Ethiopia Regional State. Yem is named for the Yem, people whose homeland lies in this zone, (see Kingdom of Yamma). Yem is bordered on the west and north by the Oromia Region, and separated from Gurage on the northeast and Hadiya on the east by the Omo River. High points in Yem include Mount Bor Ama, Mount Azulu and Mount Toba. The administrative center of Yem is Saja. The form of subsistence agriculture practiced in this zone is based on cereal and enset. Important cash crops include teff, wheat, barley and pulses. Other important non-agricultural sources of income include selling butter and remittances. According to a 2004 report, Yem had 12 kilometers of asphalt roads, 11 kilometers of all-weather roads and 31 kilometers of dry-weather roads, for an average road density of 81 kilometers per 1,000 square kilometers. Worabe
Werabe (allegedly from the Silti word for " Hyena") is a town in south-central Ethiopia. Official sources locate this town in the Silte Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region (SNNPR), although it is reported that at a referendum in 2000 the Silt'e people unanimously voted to form their own Zone, Silt'e, which includes Werabe. The town has a latitude and longitude of with an elevation of above sea level. Siltʼe Zone
Silt'e is a zone in the Central Ethiopia Regional State of Ethiopia. This zone is named for the Silt'e people, whose homeland lies in this zone. Like other nationalities in Ethiopia, the Silt'e people have their own language, Silt'e language, Silt'e. Silt'e is bordered on the south by Alaba special woreda, on the southwest by Hadiya Zone, Hadiya, on the north by Gurage Zone, Gurage, and on the east by the Oromia Region. Following a referendum held between 18 and 26 April 2001, the Silt'e people, Silt'e unanimously voted to form their own Zone, Silt'e. Later more woredas from Gurage and Hadya zones and Alaba special woreda were added.
