The Central District of Khoy County ( fa, بخش مرکزی شهرستان خوی) is a district (bakhsh) in Khoy County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 260,854, in 62,805 families. The District has two cities: Khoy and Firuraq. Bakhsh
A ( fa, بخش, also romanized as ) is a third-level administrative division of Iran. While sometimes translated as "county," it is more accurately translated as "district," similar to a township in the United States or a district of England. In Iran, the provinces (first-level divisions) (استان, ''ostān'') consist of several counties (second-level divisions) (شهرستان, ''shahrestān''), and the counties consist of one or more districts (third-level divisions) (بخش, ''bakhsh''). A district consists of a combination of cities (شهر ''shahr'') and rural districts (دهستان, ''dehestān'') (fourth-level divisions). Khoy County
Khoy County ( fa, شهرستان خوی) is located in West Azerbaijan province, Iran. The capital of the county is Khoy. At the 2006 census, the county's population (including those portions of the county later split off to form Chaypareh County) was 365,573, in 85,550 households. Khoy
Khoy (Persian and az, خوی; ; ; also Romanized as Khoi), is a city and capital of Khoy County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2012 census, its population was 200,985. Khoy is located north of the province's capital and largest city Urmia, and 807 km north-west to Tehran. The region's economy is based on agriculture, particularly the production of fruit, grain, and timber. Khoy is nicknamed as the Sunflower city of Iran. At the 2006 census, the city had a population of 178,708, with an estimated 2012 population of 200,985. Khoy is populated by both Azerbaijanis and Kurds.
