The Central District of Eqlid County ( fa, بخش مرکزی شهرستان اقلید) is a district (bakhsh) in Eqlid County, Fars Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 65,798, in 13,783 families. The District has one city: Eqlid. The District has two rural districts (''dehestan''): Khonjesht Rural District, and Shahr Meyan Rural District. A ( fa, بخش, also romanized as ) is a third-level administrative division of Iran. While sometimes translated as "county," it is more accurately translated as "district," similar to a township in the United States or a district of England. Eqlid
Eqlid ( fa, اقليد, also Romanized as Eqlīd, Eklīd, and Iqlīd) is a city and capital of Eqlid County, Fars Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 49,709, in 1,497 families. Eqlid is located 22 km west of the Expressway between Isfahan and Shiraz. The population of Eghlid is about 45,000 (2011). It is located close to the mountain chain Zagros and is one of the highest elevations (a mountain peak known as Bel) among Iran cities (2250 meters). It is also close to the desert city of Abarqu, making it a city in the border of high mountain and desert. It has a dry and cold weather, and some of its mountain peaks are covered by snow throughout the year. It is an agriculture city and its main products are wheat, barley, potato and fruits like grapes, walnut, apple, and pear. Its main road is Emam Khomeini Boulevard. Khonjesht Rural District
Khonjesht Rural District ( fa, دهستان خنجشت) is in the Central District (Eqlid County), Central District of Eqlid County, Fars province, Fars province, Iran. Its capital is the village of Khonjesht. At the National Census of 2006, its population was 8,385 in 1,793 households. There were 8,619 inhabitants in 2,090 households at the following census of 2011.
