Central African Republic National Basketball Team
The Central African Republic national basketball team is administered by the Fédération Centrafricaine de Basketball. The team won the African Basketball Championship twice. It became the first Sub-Saharan African team to qualify for the Basketball World Cup. Achievements The Central African Republic has won the African Championship twice. Their first title came in 1974 when they hosted the tournament and beat Senegal 72–67 in the final. They hoisted the trophy again in 1987 by defeating Egypt 94–87 for the championship. The team also took third place in the 1968 tournament. Maxime Zianveni
Maxime Zianveni (born 29 December 1979) is a French-born Central African professional basketball coach and former player, who played at the power forward position. He is assistant coach for SLUC Nancy Basket of the LNB Pro A and also current head coach of the Central African Republic national basketball team. He played for several clubs in France during his playing career. Coaching career On 23 April 2020, Zianveni signed as head coach of Le Cannet of the Nationale Masculine 2 (NM2), France's fourth tier league. He became the head coach of the Central African Republic national basketball team in 2021, and coached the country at FIBA AfroBasket 2021. On July 6, 2022, he has signed with SLUC Nancy Basket Stade Lorrain Université Club Nancy Basket, commonly referred to as SLUC Nancy Basket, is a French professional basketball club based in Nancy. Basketball At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan was held from 24 July to 8 August 2021. The basketball competitions were held at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, while the 3x3 competitions were held at the temporary Aomi Urban Sports Park in Tokyo. The men's qualification was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic whereas the women's qualification ended on time and unaffected.
