The Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (AgLifeSciences) is a college of Texas A&M University, a public land-grant research university in College Station, Texas. It is one of ten colleges and schools that are part of the university. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service was formally established in 1915 after the 1914 passing of the Smith-Lever Act and in conjunction with Texas A&M University. Originally named Texas Agricultural Extension Service, then later Texas Cooperative Extension, the name Texas AgriLife Extension Service was adopted on January 1, 2008. A&M was added to the agency name on September 1, 2012 as a result of a Texas A&M University System change to strengthen the association with Texas A&M. The primary mission of AgriLife Extension is to provide educational outreach programs and services to the citizens of Texas. Texas A&M Forest Service
Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS) is an agency chartered by the Texas Legislature to manage the interests of Texas' forests. The Legislature created the service in 1915. It is a part of the Texas A&M University System and is headquartered in College Station, Texas. Among its responsibilities are to manage state owned timberlands, serve as the lead agency in dealing with wildfires throughout the state, and maintain a registry of famous trees throughout the state. In addition to fighting wildfires, Texas A&M Forest Service (TFS) is routinely called upon under the State Emergency Management Plan to assist during all-hazard emergencies such as natural and man-made disasters and domestic situations; most recently Hurricane Harvey. Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory
Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) is an integral part of the Texas A&M University System. It consists of four lab locations spread across Texas; two full-service laboratories located in Amarillo and College Station and two poultry laboratories in Center and Gonzales. Established in 1916 and formally created by the Sixtieth Texas Legislature in 1967, the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory contains some of the busiest full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratories in the world. TVMDL receives more than 160,000 cases in need of diagnostic assistance each year. TVMDL has a major branch located in College Station, Texas on the Texas A&M University campus.
