República Cromañón Nightclub Fire
A fire broke out in the crowded República Cromañón nightclub (mostly known in Argentina as simply "Cromañón") in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 30 December 2004, killing 194 people and leaving at least 1,492 injured. The nightclub República Cromañón (''Cro-Magnon Republic'') was a venue that held concerts and events, on 3060-3066-3070 Bartolomé Mitre street in the Balvanera neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. It was operated by Omar Chabán, and opened on 12 April 2004 with a concert by the band Callejeros, the same band that played on the night of the fire. The club was in a two-story building, with a main entrance with six doors behind it leading into the main area of the nightclub. On the night of the fire, four of the six doors were locked. Catupecu Machu is an Argentine rock band, usually classified as within Rock en Español. Its current band members are Fernando Ruiz Díaz on vocals and guitar; Sebastián Cáceres on bass guitar; Agustín Rocino on drums; and Macabre González on keyboards and samplers. Biography The band started as a power trio in the Villa Luro neighborhood, Buenos Aires, in 1994. It all started when the Ruiz brothers decided to establish a band. As music lovers they already knew how to play the guitar and bass. All they needed was a drummer, so they recruited Marcelo Baraj (who currently plays in Totus Toss). Katja Alemann is an Argentine actress and writer. Biography Katja Alemann is the stepsister of the former Minister of Economy, Roberto Alemann. She was married to Omar Chabán, and worked with him to open the Cemento nightclub in 1985. She appeared at the inauguration dressed in a Valkyrie costume, accompanied by a chariot with horses. Their marriage ended in 2001. Alemann posed in 1987 for the Argentine edition of ''Playboy'' magazine; the photos were released the following year. In 1989, as she had become even more famous, ''Playboy'' released the unused photos from the previous photo session. Alemann sued the magazine for the unauthorized commercial use of the photos, asking for their payment as if she had posed for a second time. Los Violadores
Los Violadores are a rock band from Argentina, pioneers of the punk rock genre in Latin America. History Los Violadores ("The Violators", referring to 'breaking the law', as mentioned in one of their songs, "Violadores de la Ley") was founded in Buenos Aires in 1981 by guitarist Hari "B" (born Pedro Braun). The rest of the band included Stuka (bass), Pil Trafa (vocals) and Sergio Gramatika (drums). In their first years, sometimes they had to perform under the name of ''Los Voladores'' ("The Flying Ones") because the censorship of the military government did not allow the original name of "Los Violadores". After a while, Hari left the band and Stuka took his place at the guitar, with El Polaco taking on the bass; the latter was presumably a relative or an acquaintance of Hari B's. Emir Omar Chabán (31 March 1952 – 17 November 2014) was an Argentine impresario, who was sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment for a fatal fire in one of his businesses.
