Celmira de Almeida do Sacramento dos Santos Lourenço (born 1975) is a Santomean politician who has been speaker of the National Assembly (São Tomé and Príncipe), National Assembly since November 2022. Education Sacramento has a degree in biology. Career Sacramento was elected to the National Assembly as the member for the Mé-Zóchi District in 2010, and subsequently selected in 2014, 2018, and 2022. From 2014 to 2018, she was president of the Network of Women Parliamentarians, and from 2018 to 2022 she led the third commission of the CPLP parliamentary assembly. After the 2022 election, she was one of eight women elected to the 55 member parliament. She was part of a group that lobbied for the approval of a gender parity, parity law that came into effect on 19 November 2022, with a target of 40% women set for the next election. Alda Neves da Graça do Espírito Santo (30 April 1926 – 9 March 2010), known as Alda do Espírito Santo or Alda Graça, was a poet from São Tomé e Príncipe working in the Portuguese language. She also served in the Santomean government after the country's independence. Life and career She was born in São Tomé e Príncipe, the former Portuguese territory off the coast of West Africa, to João Graça do Espírito Santo and Maria de Jesus Agostinho das Neves. The family was prominent in São Tomé city. After primary school, she attended secondary school in Portugal. In 1948 Alda da Graça began studying in Lisbon to become a primary school teacher. While in Lisbon, Alda da Graça met students from other Portuguese colonies and joined a student association called the Casa dos Estudantes do Império. Delfim Santiago das Neves (born 5 June 1965) is a São Toméan politician, currently serving as president of the National Assembly of São Tomé and Príncipe since 2018. On 25 November 2022 Neves was arrested on charges of leading the 2022 São Tomé and Príncipe coup d'état attempt. Biography Neves was born on 5 June 1965 in Conceião, located in Caué District in São Tomé and Príncipe. He graduated at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. He has 4 children. Neves ran in the 2011 presidential election and finished third with 14.36% of the vote, behind Evaristo Carvalho and the eventual winner Manuel Pinto da Costa. In 2018, Neves became the president of the Democratic Convergence Party. He was elected President of the National Assembly on 22 November 2018, with 28 votes for his candidature, and 25 for his opponent, Carlos Cassandra Correia.
