''The Tragicomedy of Calisto and Melibea'' ( es, Tragicomedia de Calisto y Melibea), known in Spain as ''La Celestina'' is a work entirely in dialogue published in 1499. It is attributed to Fernando de Rojas, a descendant of converted Jews, who practiced law and, later in life, served as an alderman of Talavera de la Reina, an important commercial center near Toledo. The book is considered to be one of the greatest works of all Spanish literature, and is usually regarded as marking the end of the medieval period and the beginning of the renaissance in Spanish literature. Although usually regarded as a novel, it is written as a continuous series of dialogues and can be taken as a play, having been staged as such and filmed. ''Celestina'' is an eighteenth-century English novel and poet Charlotte Smith’s third novel. Published in 1791 by Thomas Cadell, the novel tells the story of an adopted orphan who discovers the secret of her parentage and marries the man she loves. It is a courtship novel that follows the typical Cinderella plot while still commenting on contemporary political issues. ''Celestina'' is a satire of traditional English class and gender assumptions, particularly the idea that nobility is connected to rank or wealth. Adam Walker (inventor)
Adam Walker (1730/31 – 11 February 1821) was an English writer and inventor. He gave lectures on astronomy, aided by one of his inventions, the eidouranion. Life Walker was born in Patterdale in Westmorland, the son of a woollen manufacturer. He left school almost before he could read, but continued to study on his own. He borrowed books, and occupied his leisure in constructing models of neighbouring corn mills, paper mills and fulling mills. His reputation as a student at the age of fifteen procured him the post of usher at Ledsham school in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Three years later he was appointed writing-master and accountant at the Free School in Macclesfield, where he studied mathematics and produced his first publication, ''A System of Family Bookkeeping, with a Ready Ruled Book'' (1758). Celestina Aladekoba is a Nigerian-American recording artist, dancer and actress. She is perhaps best known for appearing in Prince's " Black Sweat" music video, and in MTV's original dance-themed reality show program ''DanceLife''. Life and career Aladekoba grew up in Nigeria and Maryland. She is also well known for playing basketball and for winning the Miss California Jr. She was a background dancer in Missy Elliott, Will Smith and Usher music videos. Celestina Boninsegna (26 February 1877 – 13 February 1947) was an Italian operatic dramatic soprano, known for her interpretations of the heroines in Verdi's operas. Although particularly eminent in Verdi's works, she sang a wide repertoire during her 25-year career, including Rosaura in the world premiere of Mascagni's ''Le maschere''.
