Amir Celestin
Amir Celestin (born July 18, 1990) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He played college basketball for Campbell University in NCAA Division Iwhere he starred in his four seasons with the Campbell Fighting Camels. Professional career After leaving Campbell University in 2012 Amir became an unrestricted free agent. Maccabi Haifa Amir Celestin competed for his hometown minor league team the Miami Midnites, based in Miami, Florida. Josaphat Celestin
Josaphat J. Celestin, also known as Joe Celestin, is an American politician who served as the mayor of North Miami, Florida from 2001 to 2005. A Republican, he was the first Haitian-American of a sizable city in the United States. Celestin was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to a physician and emigrated to the United States in 1979. Political career In 1996, Celestin ran for the Florida Legislature, but did not succeed. In 1997, he formed the ''Haitian-American Political Action Committee'' (HAPAC). In 1998, he ran for the Florida Senate, but was not successful. He sued to overturn the election, claiming that the results were tainted by illegally registered voters. Prior to his 2001 election as mayor, Celestin had also run for mayor in 1999. In 2001, Celestin was elected as Mayor of North Miami, becoming the first Haitian-American mayor of a sizeable US city. Jude Célestin (born June 19, 1962 in Port-au-Prince) is a Haitian politician who was one of two presidential candidates heading off to the second round in the 2015 presidential election race. After an education in Port-au-Prince, Célestin studied mechanical engineering in Switzerland. Before he was nominated as the presidential candidate for President René Préval's Unity (INITE) party, he was the executive director of the government's construction ministry, the National Center of Equipment. 2010 elections Célestin ran as leader of LAPEH ( Ligue Alternative pour le Progres et L'Émancipation Haïtienne).
