Celebrity Circus (Australian TV Series)
''Celebrity Circus'' was an Australian reality television series which aired in May 2005 on the Nine Network. The show took celebrities and, with the help of Silvers Circus, trained them into circus acts. In the final show, the celebrities performed in front of a live crowd and showcased what they had learned. It was shown over five one-hour episodes and was hosted by Bud Tingwell. The various skills in the show were high-wire, flying trapeze, knife throwing, fire juggling and clowning. Some of the performers were also trained in two events called the Human Cannon and the Wheel of Death. ''Cirque de Celebrité'' is a celebrity reality television show broadcast on Sky One. The show features celebrities training for and then performing various circus acts. The winner of the series of 2006 was Grace Adams-Short. A second series of ''Cirque de Celebrité'' broadcast in 2007, with Jenni Falconer replacing Ruby Wax as host and the live commentator was Peter Dickson. Big Brother winner Brian Dowling hosted a spin off show, ''Cirque: Backstage at the Big Top''. The winner of the series of 2007 was Kyal Marsh. Format The first series was hosted by Ruby Wax. The three judges for the first series were professional performers Louie Spence, Ann Dorwin, and circus director, Phillip Gandey. Gaby Roslin replaced Ann Dorwin for the second series. ''Celebrity Circus'' is an American version of the ''Celebrity Circus'' reality television show based on the Portuguese television series of Circo das Celebridades, not to be confused with Australian TV series of the same name that aired in 2005. The show is produced by Endemol USA with Matt Kunitz as executive producer and Rick Ringbakk as co-executive producer. On March 13, 2009, it was confirmed that the series had been canceled and would not be returning for a second season. Format The show is hosted by Joey Fatone. The judges for the series are Olympic gymnast Mitch Gaylord, contortionist Aurelia Cats and choreographer Louie Spence who is also a judge on the British version.
