Cefn Cribwr Football Club ( cy, Clwb Pêl-droed Cefn Cribwr) is a Welsh football team based in Cefn Cribwr, Bridgend County Borough, Wales. They play in the Ardal South West, which is in the third tier of the Welsh football league system. History Established in 1976 as ''Cefn Cribwr Boys Club'' by Gary Davies, the club began playing in the Bridgend & District League and were back-to-back Premier Division champions in the 1986–87 and 1987–88 seasons. They were founder members of the South Wales Senior League in the 1991–92 season, playing in the league until 2000. They again played in the Bridgend & District League, winning the Premier Division in 2013–14, and gaining promotion to South Wales Senior League for its final season in 2014–15. Blaenrhondda is a village in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales, lying at the head the Rhondda Fawr valley. Blaenrhondda is a village and is part of the community of Treherbert. History The earliest evidence of people inhabiting the area are the remains of an Iron Age settlement of several roundhouses grouped together in an obvious community, known as Hen Dre'r Mynydd. The dry wall layout of the ruinous site has led archaeologists to believe that the people who lived in the area were early farmers. It has been identified as the largest undefended Iron Age settlement in south east Wales. Before the industrialisation of the Rhondda Valleys in the late 19th century, Blaenrhondda was an agricultural area and sparsely populated. Cefn Cribwr
Cefn Cribwr is a village and community in Bridgend County Borough in south Wales. The village is located about 5 miles (8 km) from the centre of Bridgend town, and inbetween Bridgend and Pyle. Description The village is situated on a ridge (as the name suggests) between Pyle (3 km to the west) and Aberkenfig (4 km to the east). Cefn Cribwr, as a community, recorded a population of 1,546 in the 2001 Census, reducing to 1,481 at the 2011 Census. The community centre, locally known as the Green Hall, was opened in 1924 and originally conceived as a Miners' Welfare Hall; it was supported by colliery owners and colliers. Many political meetings were held there. Labour politician and former Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald spoke there in the closing weeks of the General Strike of 1926. The South Wales Alliance League is a football league structure in South Wales, currently known for sponsorship reasons as ''The Highadmit Projects South Wales Alliance League''. The top tier of the league, the Premier Division is at the fourth tier of the Welsh Football Pyramid and offers promotion opportunities to the tier 3 Football Association of Wales administered Ardal Leagues. The league is run by the South Wales Football Association. The league was formed in 2015 by a merger of the South Wales Senior League and the South Wales Amateur League.
