Cedric Cahill
Cedric Allan Francis Cahill (16 July 1912 – 9 November 1973) was an Australian politician. He was born in Belmore to conveyancer Lionel Bernard Cahill and Florence Rose, ''née'' Dunn. He attended Marist Brothers College in Sydney and then studied law, being admitted as a solicitor in 1936 and working for Abe Landa's firm. He married Margaret McDonald on 23 December 1940; they had two children. Cahill was called to the Bar in 1949. Belmore, New South Wales
Belmore is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Belmore is located 11 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the Local government in Australia, local government area of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown. History Belmore is named after the fourth Somerset Lowry-Corry, 4th Earl Belmore, Earl of Belmore, Governors of New South Wales, Governor of New South Wales from 1868 to 1872. The area was known as Darkwater in its early days. Some of the first land grants in 1810 were to Richard Robinson east of Sharp Street and Kingsgrove Road and to Thomas Mansfield, to the west. Francis Wild and John Sullivan were each granted in 1823. The area was originally used for market gardening, market gardens and orchards. Subdivision started after the railway came through in 1895. Abe Landa
Abram Landa (10 November 1902 – 7 October 1989) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1930 until 1932 and from 1941 until 1965. He was variously a member of the Australian Labor Party (NSW) and the Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch). He held a number of ministerial positions between 1953 and 1965. Early and personal life Landa was born in Belfast, Ireland and migrated to Sydney with his widowed mother in 1910. He was educated at Christian Brothers, Waverley and won a scholarship to study law at the University of Sydney. He practiced as a solicitor mainly in Industrial Law and joined the ALP in 1919. He was an advisor to Doc Evatt at the United Nations meetings in Lake Success. Landa was a prominent member of Sydney's Jewish Community.
