The Cedartown Cedars were a minor league baseball team based in Cedartown, Georgia. The Cedars played the 1921 and 1922 seasons as members of the Class D level Georgia State League, before the league folded. Ollie Tucker won the league Triple Crown playing for Cedartown in 1921. History The 1920 Cedartown Cedars began minor league play as members of the six–team, Class D level Georgia State League. The Carrollton, Griffin, LaGrange, Lindale Pepperells and Rome teams joined Cedartown in beginning league play on May 20, 1920. The Cedars ended their first season of play in fourth place. Cedartown finished the 1920 season with a record of 44–48. Playing the season under manager D.V. Jones, the Cedars finished 9.0 games behind the first place and champion Carrollton team in the final standings. The league held no playoffs in 1920. Camp Skinner
Elisha Harrison "Camp" Skinner (June 25, 1897 – August 4, 1944) was a professional baseball outfielder. He was a reserve player and pinch hitter for the 1922 New York Yankees and 1923 Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). Listed at and , he batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Biography Skinner's minor league career spanned 1921 to 1928, with gaps, as he did not play professionally in 1925 or 1927. His major league career consisted of 27 games for the New York Yankees in 1922, and seven games for the Boston Red Sox in 1923. Prior to the 1923 season, he was traded by New York along with infielder Norm McMillan, pitcher George Murray, and cash to Boston in exchange for pitcher Herb Pennock. The Cedartown Sea Cows were a minor league baseball team based in Cedartown, Georgia. Cedartown teams played as members of the Class D level Georgia-Alabama League from 1928 to 1930, winning one league pennant and one league championship. The 1930 team became known as the "Braves." History The Sea Cows were preceded in minor league baseball by the Cedartown Cedars, who played as members of the Class D level Georgia State League in the 1921 and 1922 seasons. In 1928, Cedartown resumed minor league play, as the "Sea Cows" were formed and became members of the reformed six-team, Class D level Georgia-Alabama League. The Anniston Nobles, Carrollton Frogs, Gadsden Eagles, Lindale Dragons and Talladega Indians teams joined Cedartown in beginning league play on May 24, 1928. The Georgia State League was an American Class D minor league in professional baseball that existed in 1906, 1914, 1920–1921 and 1948–1956. During its last incarnation, it existed alongside two nearby Class D circuits, the Georgia–Florida League and the Georgia–Alabama League. The version of the league began with six teams, but two clubs were forced to disband and a third to relocate before the league folded on July 9. Then, in the Empire State League based in Georgia renamed itself Georgia State League. The six-team 1914 league played a full schedule and crowned a champion, the Americus Muckalees.
