Cecilie Ore
Cecilie Ore (born 19 July 1954) is a Norwegian composer. Biography Cecilie Ore was born in Oslo, Norway, and studied piano at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. She also studied piano in Paris, and composition at the Institute of Sonology in Utrecht, and with Ton de Leeuw at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. During the eighties, Ore gained international acclaim for several of her electro-acoustic works. 1988 saw her winning both the first and second prize at the International Rostrum for Composers in the Electro Acoustic category for her work ''Etapper''. The same year saw Ore bestowed with the Norwegian Society of Composers´ Work of the Year Award for the orchestral work ''Porphyre''. Towards the end of the 80s, Orce gradually introduced a compositional focus on time, a focus that would lead to work cycles ''Codex Temporis'' and ''Tempura Mutantur''. Norwegians ( no, nordmenn) are a North Germanic ethnic group and nation native to Norway, where they form the vast majority of the population. BBC Radio 3 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. Arne Nordheim
Arne Nordheim (20 June 1931 – 5 June 2010) was a Norwegian composer. Nordheim received numerous awards for his compositions, and from 1982 lived in the Norwegian government's honorary residence, Grotten, next to the Royal Palace in Oslo. He was elected an honorary member of the International Society for Contemporary Music in 1997. On 18 August 2006, Arne Nordheim received a doctor honoris causa degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He died at the age of 78 and was given a state funeral. Other Minds is an American nonprofit organization based in San Francisco. It was founded In 1992 by Charles Amirkhanian and Jim Newman (Dilexi Gallery, Other Minds), Jim Newman. According to their mission statement, the organization is dedicated to the "encouragement and propagation of contemporary music." The name "Other Minds" has been attributed by Jim Newman to an anonymous obituary that ran in ''The New Yorker'' in 1992 which stated that John Cage "...composed music in other people's minds." Bergen International Festival ( no, Festspillene i Bergen) is an annual international music and cultural festival in Bergen, Norway. Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival
The Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (also known by the acronym HCMF, stylised since 2006 as the lowercase hcmf//) is a new music festival held annually in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. Since its foundation in 1978, it has featured major international figures of experimental and avant garde music, including guest composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen, Louis Andriessen, Terry Riley, Brian Eno, John Cage, Steve Reich, Jonathan Harvey, Helmut Lachenmann and Sir Harrison Birtwistle.
