Cecilia Östlund
Cecilia "Cissi" Östlund (born 10 January 1988) is a Swedish curler. She was skip for the Swedish team at the 2008 World Junior Curling Championships in Östersund, winning a silver medal and she was the skip of the Swedish team at the 2010 Ford World Women's Curling Championship in Swift Current, Canada, finishing fourth In June 2010 it was announced that Östlund's team would join forces with Anette Norberg, with Östlund playing third. This team won the 2011 World Women's Curling Championship. Östlund would later become a skip again. She was the skip of team Sweden at the 2015 European Curling Championships. She led her rink of Sabina Kraupp, Sara Carlsson, Paulina Stein and Anna Huhta to a 5-4 record, finishing in 5th place. Karlstads Curlingklubb (Karlstads CK) is a curling club located in Karlstad, Sweden. It is currently best known as the home club of Team Niklas Edin, which holds a record of winning five World Curling Championship titles and seven European Curling Championship titles. It was also the home club of one of the most successful women's curling teams of all time, skipped by Elisabeth Högström. Sara McManus
Sara McManus (born 13 December 1991) is a Swedish curler from Gävle. She currently plays third on Team Anna Hasselborg. With the Hasselborg rink, she won the gold medal in women's curling at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Career McManus was the alternate for the Swedish team at the 2009 and 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. The team, which was skipped by Anna Hasselborg, finished in sixth place in 2009 and won the gold medal in 2010. While McManus was listed as an alternate, the team acted as a five-player team, with McManus throwing lead rocks in most of the team's games. The team was taken over by McManus' sister Jonna as skip for the 2011 World Junior Curling Championships where the team placed fourth, with Sara throwing third stones. The Players' Championship is one of the final events on the World Curling Tour (WCT) and is a part of the Grand Slam of Curling. From 2016 to 2019, it was the penultimate slam of the curling season, and the last of the four "majors". The event was one of the original Grand Slam events when they were instituted in the 2001–02 season for men and for the 2006–07 season for women. History The event began as the "VO Cup" before the Grand Slam era in 1993, as part of the very first World Curling Tour season. The event was known as the VO Cup for two seasons before title sponsor Seagram's Distillery pulled out. The Canadian Open, is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament. It is one of the seven Grand Slams and four "majors" on the World Curling Tour, and the only one to use a triple knockout format. The Colonial Square Ladies Classic is an annual women's curling tournament held at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The tournament has run since 1983 and is part of the Women's World Curling Tour. From 2012 to 2014, the Colonial Square Classic was a Grand Slam event on the women's World Curling Tour. The Masters is a Grand Slam event on the men's and women's World Curling Tour. It is the second Grand Slam event and first major on the women's and men's tour. The event is an amalgamation of the men's World Cup of Curling and the women's Sun Life Classic. There was also a men's Sun Life Classic, which has been discontinued. Autumn Gold Curling Classic
The Curlers Corner Autumn Gold Curling Classic is an annual women's World Curling Tour event held at the Calgary Curling Club in Calgary, Alberta. It was the first Grand Slam event of the season from 2006 to 2014, but is no longer considered one of the official Grand Slams. The first Autumn Gold Classic was held in 1978, and at the time only had a total purse of $10,500, with the winning team receiving $4,000. At the time, it had the largest purse for a women's curling tournament in Canada. Its main sponsor in 1978 was JoAnne's Fashions. The event began seeing international teams in 1987, thanks in part to the sport being added as a demonstration event at the 1988 Winter Olympics.
