Cecilia Rognoni
María Cecilia Rognoni (born December 1, 1976 in Buenos Aires) is a retired Argentine field hockey player, who won the 2002 World Cup in Perth, Australia where she was elected as the best woman hockey player in the world by the FIH. She is currently playing in the Dutch team HC Bloemendaal in the second division of the Netherlands. Cecilia belongs to the generation that gave rise to the myth of the Las Leonas. She won the silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and the Champions Trophy in 2001. In 2005, she was separated from the Argentine national field hockey team by the coach Gabriel Minadeo, after she said that "many of the players have a place on the team just because of their surname". She came back to the team in 2010 under Carlos Retegui coaching but was forced to leave the team due knee injuries. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. The 1997 Women's Hockey Junior World Cup was the 3rd edition of the Women's Hockey Junior World Cup. It was held from 2 to 13 September 1997 in Seongnam, South Korea. Women's Hockey Junior World Cup
The Women's FIH Hockey Junior World Cup, formerly known as the Women's Hockey Junior World Cup, is the field hockey Junior World Cup competition for women, with the format for qualification and the final tournament similar to the men's. It is organized by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) and has been played since 1989. The tournament features players who are under 21 years of age and is held once every two years. Four teams have dominated in past events. Netherlands is the most successful team, having won the tournament four times, this followed by Korea and Argentina. Germany have won the tournament once.
