Cecilia Miranda De Carvalho
Cecilia Miranda de Carvalho (October 20, 1913 – May 21, 2011) was a Brazilian singer. She was Carmen Miranda and Aurora Miranda's sister. Biography Cecilia Miranda da Cunha was born in Rio de Janeiro on October 20, 1913. She was the fourth daughter of the Portuguese marriage José Pinto da Cunha (1887–1938) and Maria Emilia Miranda (1886–1971). At 18, she married Abilio Fernandes de Carvalho. She was successful in the 1930s, when she sang for the Radio Society of Rio (currently Rádio MEC) and participated in some records of the time. But after the birth of her only daughter, Carmen Miranda de Carvalho (later Guimarães) in 1936, Cecilia did not continue in her musical career. Her husband died in 1939 due to heart problems. Carmen Miranda
Carmen Miranda, (; born Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha, 9 February 1909 – 5 August 1955) was a Portuguese-born Brazilian samba singer, dancer, Broadway actress and film star who was active from the late 1920s onwards. Nicknamed "The Brazilian Bombshell", Miranda was known for her signature fruit hat outfit that she wore in her American films. As a young woman, she designed hats in a boutique before making her first recordings with composer Josué de Barros in 1929. Miranda's 1930 recording of "Taí (Pra Você Gostar de Mim)", written by Joubert de Carvalho, catapulted her to stardom in Brazil as the foremost interpreter of samba. During the 1930s, Miranda performed on Brazilian radio and appeared in five Brazilian '' chanchadas'', films celebrating Brazilian music, dance and the country's carnival culture. Aurora Miranda da Cunha Richaid (20 April 1915 – 22 December 2005) was a Brazilian singer and actress. She began her career at the age of 18 in 1933. Miranda appeared in several films, including ''The Three Caballeros'', where she danced with Donald Duck and José Carioca, singing the song, " Os Quindins de Yayá". Her sisters were Carmen Miranda and Cecilia Miranda. Career Aurora Miranda had a successful career in Brazil and the US, perhaps overshadowed by that of her sister, Carmen Miranda. Aurora was six years younger than her sister and equally talented and vivacious.
