Cavern (song)
"Cavern" is a 1992 song by the American band Phish. It is the third track from their 1992 album ''A Picture of Nectar'' and was also released as their second promotional single by Elektra Records. The song is a beat-driven funk rock song written by Phish guitarist and lead vocalist Trey Anastasio and lyricist Scott Herman and Tom Marshall. “Cavern” has been a rock in Phish’s rotation since early 1990. While most fans have become accustomed to the song as a set-closer or encore, initially it was much more versatile, appearing just about everywhere in the setlist. It was only beginning in 1992 that the band began utilizing it in its current role. In fact, beginning in fall 1992, well over half of the performances of “Cavern” have come either at the close of a set or during an encore. And no wonder: the song’s straight-up rock feel and fist-pumping climax make it a fitting exclamation point on the end of an evening of more excursionary jamming.

Songs Written By Tom Marshall (singer)
A song is a musical composition intended to be performed by the human voice. This is often done at distinct and fixed pitches (melodies) using patterns of sound and silence. Songs contain various forms, such as those including the repetition and variation of sections. Written words created specifically for music, or for which music is specifically created, are called lyrics. If a pre-existing poem is set to composed music in classical music it is an art song. Songs that are sung on repeated pitches without distinct contours and patterns that rise and fall are called chants. Songs composed in a simple style that are learned informally "by ear" are often referred to as folk songs. Songs that are composed for professional singers who sell their recordings or live shows to the mass market are called popular songs. These songs, which have broad appeal, are often composed by professional songwriters, composers, and lyricists. Art songs are composed by trained classical composers fo ...

Coral Sky
Corals are marine invertebrates within the class Anthozoa of the phylum Cnidaria. They typically form compact colonies of many identical individual polyps. Coral species include the important reef builders that inhabit tropical oceans and secrete calcium carbonate to form a hard skeleton. A coral "group" is a colony of very many genetically identical polyps. Each polyp is a sac-like animal typically only a few millimeters in diameter and a few centimeters in height. A set of tentacles surround a central mouth opening. Each polyp excretes an exoskeleton near the base. Over many generations, the colony thus creates a skeleton characteristic of the species which can measure up to several meters in size. Individual colonies grow by asexual reproduction of polyps. Corals also breed sexually by spawning: polyps of the same species release gametes simultaneously overnight, often around a full moon. Fertilized eggs form planulae, a mobile early form of the coral polyp which, when ma ...

Live Phish Volume 19
''Live Phish Vol. 19'' was recorded live at the Colonial Theater in Keene, New Hampshire, on July 12, 1991. This concert was recorded during the middle of the band's 1991 summer tour with the Giant Country Horns - a three-piece horn section that would learn and perform individual sections of Phish songs during concerts. Two of the three members of the horn section - Dave Grippo and Russell Remington - performed with Trey Anastasio's solo band in the 21st century. Rarities include two Charlie Parker covers: the one-time-only performance of " Moose the Mooche" and the Jaco Pastorius-infused "Donna Lee." Drummer Jon Fishman also performs The Doors' " Touch Me," complemented thoroughly by the horn section. Track listing Disc one :''Set one:'' #"Dinner and a Movie" ( Anastasio, Pollak) - 4:09 #"Bouncing Around the Room" (Anastasio, Marshall) - 3:35 #"Buried Alive" (Anastasio) - 2:15 #"Flat Fee" (Anastasio) - 2:59 #"Reba" (Anastasio) - 11:31 #"The Landlady" (Anastasio) - 5:49 #"B ...

Live Phish Volume 10
''Live Phish Vol. 10'' was recorded live at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Columbus, Ohio on June 22, 1994. Some Phish hobbyists advance that the concert ranks among the five best the band has ever played, although the weight of reliable authority holds otherwise. It features the band on their 1994 summer tour. The group plays an experimental version of "Mike's Song," interpolating an early version of the Mike Gordon staple "Simple" and a jam based on the bass line and melody of The Allman Brothers Band's "Midnight Rider," as well as a version of the rarely-played "Icculus." Bonus tracks include two songs from the Murat Theater in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 24, 1994. Before the second set begins with " 2001", Trey Anastasio informs the audience of the current score of Game 7 of the 1994 NBA Finals ("First quarter, Houston by 5"). The game is also mentioned during the Icculus narration ("Even if you're playing in the NBA finals, and you're winning by 5 points, ..you'd ...

Live Phish Volume 7
''Live Phish Vol. 7'' was recorded live at the World Music Theater in Tinley Park, Illinois, United States, on August 14, 1993. Almost immediately, this concert became a sought after collectors item on the Phish bootleg circuit, as it seemed to define an era when Phish began breaking down many of its live performance boundaries. Whereas most shows before 1993 contained a distinct set of songs with specifically placed jams, many concerts in the summer of 1993 saw Phish experimenting with song segues and improvisation within sections of songs that were once tightly structured. Here, the band floats in and out of "Run Like an Antelope" through most of the second set, switching from on-the-spot instrumental forays to unique and rare cover songs, all within the context of "Run Like an Antelope." Shortly after a massive jam session in "You Enjoy Myself," drummer Jon Fishman provides a bit of comic relief with a performance of Prince's " Purple Rain." Track listing Disc one :''Set one: ...
