Caveman Games
''Caveman Ughlympics'' or ''Caveman Ugh-lympics'' is a 1988 Olympic-themed sports video game set in the Stone Age. It was developed for the Commodore 64 and MS-DOS by Dynamix and published by Electronic Arts. The Nintendo Entertainment System version was ported and released by Data East USA, a subsidiary of Data East, as ''Caveman Games''. Gameplay ''Caveman Ughlympics'' is a Stone Age Olympics played using different combinations of keys on the player's keyboard or the NES controller. Dynamix, Inc. was an American developer of video games from 1984 to 2001, best known for the flight simulator ''Red Baron'', the puzzle game '' The Incredible Machine'', the '' Front Page Sports'' series, ''Betrayal at Krondor,'' and the online multiplayer game ''Tribes''. History The company was founded in Eugene, Oregon in 1984 by Jeff Tunnell and Damon Slye. Their first title, '' Stellar 7'', was released before company founding and was later remade with the Dynamix name on it. They made a number of games for the Commodore 64, among them Project Firestart, which was one of the most atmospheric titles for the C64. Smilodon
''Smilodon'' is a genus of the extinct machairodont subfamily of the felids. It is one of the most famous prehistoric mammals and the best known saber-toothed cat. Although commonly known as the saber-toothed tiger, it was not closely related to the tiger or other modern cats. ''Smilodon'' lived in the Americas during the Pleistocene epoch (2.5 Year#mya, mya – 10,000 years ago). The genus was named in 1842 based on fossils from Brazil; the generic name means "scalpel" or "two-edged knife" combined with "tooth". Three species are recognized today: ''S. gracilis'', ''S. fatalis'', and ''S. populator''. ''Computer Gaming World'' (CGW) was an American computer game magazine published between 1981 and 2006. One of the few magazines of the era to survive the video game crash of 1983, it was sold to Ziff Davis in 1993. It expanded greatly through the 1990s and became one of the largest dedicated video game magazines, reaching around 500 pages by 1997. In the early 2000s its circulation was about 300,000, only slightly behind the market leader ''PC Gamer''. But, like most magazines of the era, the rapid move of its advertising revenue to internet properties led to a decline in revenue.
