Cavalo (album)
''Cavalo'' (Portuguese "horse") is the first solo album of singer Rodrigo Amarante. It was released in Brazil in September 2013 by the record label Som Livre and in May 2014 globally by Easy Sound. Background and recording After the indefinite break of Los Hermanos in 2007, Amarante began to devote himself to the Orquestra Imperial and the group Little Joy, which he co-founded with Fabrizio Moretti and Binki Shapiro. After the trios release of their first album in 2008, the band went on tour in Brazil and by 2009 they toured globally. Living in Los Angeles, a place where he was unknown, Amarante then began to write about this "exile" and to become reacquainted with his own nature, forming what would become ''Cavalo''. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro in 2012, and contains tracks sung in three different languages: Portuguese, English and French, plus some Japanese verses in the title track. Rodrigo Amarante
Rodrigo Amarante de Castro Neves (born September 6, 1976) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger. He is part of the bands Los Hermanos, Orquestra Imperial, and Little Joy, and released his first solo record, '' Cavalo'', in Brazil in late 2013 and worldwide in May 2014. He also wrote and performed the (bolero style) narcocorrido "Tuyo", the theme song for the Netflix Original Series ''Narcos'' (2015) and '' Narcos: Mexico'' (2018), and wrote the score for the film ''Entebbe'' (2018). Biography 1997–2007: Los Hermanos Amarante was born in Rio de Janeiro. He studied Journalism at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro ("PUC-Rio"), where he met Marcelo Camelo and Rodrigo Barba. A djembe or jembe ( ; from Maninka language, Malinke ''jembe'' , N'Ko script, N'Ko: ) is a rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands, originally from West Africa. According to the Bambara people in Mali, the name of the djembe comes from the saying "Anke djé, anke bé" which translates to "everyone gather together in peace" and defines the drum's purpose. In the Bambara language, "djé" is the verb for "gather" and "bé" translates as "peace." Adam Green (born May 28, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter, artist and filmmaker. Green is well known for his involvement in the anti-folk music movement and as one half of the band the Moldy Peaches, alongside fellow singer-songwriter Kimya Dawson. Green has found success as a solo artist, enjoying increasing popularity in the United States as well as a number of European countries, particularly Germany.
