Causality (also referred to as causation, or cause and effect) is influence by which one event, process, state, or object (''a'' ''cause'') contributes to the production of another event, process, state, or object (an ''effect'') where the cause is partly responsible for the effect, and the effect is partly dependent on the cause. In general, a process has many causes, which are also said to be ''causal factors'' for it, and all lie in its past. An effect can in turn be a cause of, or causal factor for, many other effects, which all lie in its future. Some writers have held that causality is metaphysically prior to notions of time and space. Causality is an abstraction that indicates how the world progresses. Causes (band)
Causes were a four-piece indie pop band who were based in the Netherlands. History The band is composed of British singer/songwriter Rupert Blackman (vocals), Jan Schröder (guitar), Simon Boeing-Messing (drums) and Robert Pronk (bass). Blackman moved to Amsterdam from the UK and started busking on the street. He regularly sold out of homemade CD’s and interest quickly garnered. He signed a record deal in Benelux with Play It Again Sam. Soon after he met guitarist Jan Schroder and Causes was swiftly formed. The band’s debut single "Teach Me How To Dance With You" was released in late 2014 in Benelux and proved an immediate success; first being playlisted on Radio 538, with all other major radio stations soon following suit. It quickly gained Platinum status and was followed up by a second, also very successful single "Walk on Water" which was premiered with a performance on 3FM June 4 alongside another RTL Late Night TV performance. Causes.com is a civic-technology app and website that enables users to organize grassroots and public awareness campaigns. The Causes platform presents summaries of breaking news, legislation, and trending topics and allows users to react, comment, share, or contact representatives about an issue. Users can  also create their own “Cause” and seek support from other users. In 2019, Causes was acquired by Countable Corporation. In  2020, Countable.us and its associated app merged with Causes.com. Mission Causes' stated mission is "to empower people to create change in the world through online organizing. Causes connects people who share a common vision and build the tools they need to make an impact. Any user can create a campaign on Causes, whether they work for a nonprofit or are an activist, interested in a certain issue. Nonprofits with smaller resources or extensive grassroots networks have been leveraging those resources to build online communities of supporters.
