Alfred Catt
Alfred Catt (19 December 1833 – 28 October 1919) was a South Australian politician. He was a member of the South Australian House of Assembly from 1881 to 1902, representing the electorates of Stanley (1881-1884) and Gladstone (1884-1902). He was Commissioner for Public Works under John Cox Bray from 1881 to 1884 and again under Thomas Playford II from 1887 to 1889. Catt was born in Newington, Kent, England, third child of Charles Catt, a carpenter, and his wife Sarah, ''née'' Knott. Catt arrived in South Australia in 1847, and for ten years engaged in agricultural pursuits at Balhannah and Strathalbyn. After a short trial of the Victorian diggings he returned to Strathalbyn, and entered into business. Subsequently he opened a store at the then youthful town of Gladstone, South Australia. Carrie Chapman Catt
Carrie Chapman Catt (; January 9, 1859 Fowler, p. 3 – March 9, 1947) was an American women's suffrage leader who campaigned for the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which gave U.S. women the right to vote in 1920. Catt served as president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association from 1900 to 1904 and 1915 to 1920. She founded the League of Women Voters in 1920 and the International Woman Suffrage Alliance in 1904, Van Voris, pp. 59–63 which was later named International Alliance of Women. Helena Catt
Helena Catt, from the UK, was a New Zealand public servant and is an expert in electoral practice. She was the first female chief executive of the New Zealand Electoral Commission from 2004 to 2009 and was a professor in the Department of Political Studies, University of Auckland. She was also part of the New Zealand Productivity Commission and during her tenure had a series of publications including "Are Commissions Representative?: The Composition of Commissions of Inquiry created in New Zealand since 1970". Dr. Catt holds an MA (Hons) in Modern History and Politics from Edinburgh University and a PhD (on tactical voting) from the London School of Economics. Ian Catt is a British record producer and multi-instrumentalist associated with several popular indie groups, including Saint Etienne, with whom he has been a touring member. He has also collaborated with Saint Etienne's vocalist Sarah Cracknell on her solo album, ''Lipslide''. Catt also produced several albums for Heavenly and is a long-standing collaborator of Bobby Wratten, working with his groups The Field Mice, Northern Picture Library, Trembling Blue Stars and Occasional Keepers. He was also an official member of the latter group for a short time. His solo project, Katmandu, released a single and album on the Vinyl Japan label in 1994. He was the main producer on Saint Etienne's 2012 release '' Words and Music''. Michael John Catt OBE (born 17 September 1971) is a South African-born former rugby union player who played for the England national rugby union team. He played professionally for the clubs London Irish and Bath. He earned 75 international caps for England and played in two World Cup Finals, in 2003 (when England won) and 2007. With his appearance in the October 2007 final, at age 36 years 1 month, he became the oldest ever player to play in a Rugby World Cup final. Since 2008, Catt has coached various rugby teams, and has since 2019 been an assistant coach for the Ireland national rugby team. Combined Arms Tactical Trainer
The Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (CATT) is the British Army's primary tactical battlegroup simulator, consisting of over 150 networked simulators which replicate the interiors of armoured vehicles. It has sites at Warminster in Wiltshire (near Waterloo Lines) and Sennelager in Germany, which can be operated separately or inter-linked. Built in the 1990s and in use since 2002, the system is a development of the United States Army's Close Combat Tactical Trainer. The simulator can train up to 450 military personnel on a virtual battlefield, and is run jointly by the Ministry of Defence, Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems. In 2005, the total cost of the program was stated to be £238 million, and the Defence Procurement Agency claimed it was the largest and most sophisticated virtual training facility in the world.
