Cathy Rogers
Cathy Rogers (born 28 May 1968) is an English television executive, producer, presenter and musician. She is best known as the presenter of the British reality competition series ''Scrapheap Challenge'' and its American counterpart ''Junkyard Wars'', as well as for being the keyboardist and backing singer for the indie pop bands Heavenly and Marine Research. Rogers was born in Lancashire, England. She studied medicine at the University of Oxford, earning a master's degree in Health Policy. Rogers joined the BBC as a producer in the early 1990s, specialising in scientific documentaries, including work on the long-running series ''Horizon''. During the same period, she played keyboards and sang vocals in the twee pop group Heavenly. In 1995 Rogers moved to the independent production company RDF Media, where she helped devise and produced the popular Channel 4 technology reality game show ''Scrapheap Challenge'', known in North America as ''Junkyard Wars''. Lancashire
Lancashire ( , ; abbreviated Lancs) is the name of a historic county, ceremonial county, and non-metropolitan county in North West England. The boundaries of these three areas differ significantly. The non-metropolitan county of Lancashire was created by the Local Government Act 1972. It is administered by Lancashire County Council, based in Preston, and twelve district councils. Although Lancaster is still considered the county town, Preston is the administrative centre of the non-metropolitan county. The ceremonial county has the same boundaries except that it also includes Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen, which are unitary authorities. Lisa Rogers (born 7 September 1971) is a Welsh television presenter. She has appeared in films, television programmes, theatre and radio. Early life While at school, she took jobs in a chocolate factory, as a farrier, and, while studying drama at Loughborough University, she was a nanny and manager of Santa's grotto. Television Rogers started her television career behind the scenes working as a researcher on shows including Johnny Vaughan's ''The Fall Guy'', '' The Girlie Show'', ''Absolutely Animals'' and ''Light Lunch'' with fellow researcher Dermot O'Leary. ''Faking It'' is a television programme originating on Channel 4 which has spawned various international remakes, including a United States version which began in 2003 on the TLC network. Devised by Stephen Lambert of RDF Media, the programme's original concept was "a modern-day ''Pygmalion''", referring to the George Bernard Shaw play in which flower girl Eliza Doolittle is trained to appear like an aristocrat. History The programme debuted in 2000 with a run of only two episodes, one of which featured Alex Geikie, a well-spoken gay man, being taught to "fake it" as a London club bouncer.
