Linwood is a small unincorporated community ( ZIP Code 27299) just south of Lexington in Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. The area contains operations of several important companies in Davidson County, including Keply Hardwood, Legget-Platt, PPG Industries, LMI Builders, and Halyard Health. Three major transportation systems serve the area: Interstate 85, the Davidson County Airport, and Norfolk Southern Railway's Spencer classification yard. The North Carolina Senate is the upper chamber of the North Carolina General Assembly, which along with the North Carolina House of Representatives—the lower chamber—comprises the state legislature of North Carolina. The term of office for each senator is only two years. The Senate's prerogatives and powers are similar to those of the other house, the House of Representatives.
