Catherine Thomas (born in 1963) is a Welsh politician and former Labour Welsh Assembly Member for the constituency of Llanelli. She narrowly beat Helen Mary Jones of Plaid Cymru at the 2003 Assembly election with a majority of 21. Helen Mary Jones defeated her in the 2007 election. She was married to the MP for Caerphilly Wayne David. Education University of Glamorgan (now the University of South Wales) and the University of Wales, Cardiff. Llanelli (National Assembly For Wales Constituency)
Llanelli is a constituency of the Senedd. It elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post method of election. Also, however, it is one of eight constituencies in the Mid and West Wales electoral region, which elects four additional members, in addition to eight constituency members, to produce a degree of proportional representation for the region as a whole. Boundaries 1999 to 2007 The constituency was created for the first election to the Assembly, in 1999, with the name and boundaries of the Llanelli Westminster constituency. It is a Dyfed constituency, one of five constituencies covering, and entirely within, the preserved county of Dyfed. 2007 National Assembly For Wales Election
The 2007 National Assembly for Wales election was held on Thursday 3 May 2007 to elect members to the Senedd, National Assembly for Wales. It was the third general election. On the same day local elections in England and Scotland, as well as the 2007 Scottish Parliament election, Scottish Parliament election took place. This election was preceded by the 2003 National Assembly for Wales election, previous Assembly election in 2003. The election saw Plaid Cymru make gains at the expense of Welsh Labour Party, Labour, although Labour remain the largest party in the Assembly, as they have since it began. Julie Morgan (née Edwards; 2 November 1944) is a Welsh Labour Party politician, who has been a Member of the Senedd for Cardiff North seat in the Senedd since the 2011 election. She was previously Member of Parliament (MP) for Cardiff North from 1997 until 2010. She was married to former First Minister of Wales Rhodri Morgan until his death in 2017. Helen Mary Jones
Helen Mary Jones (born 29 June 1960) is a Welsh Plaid Cymru politician, who was a member of the Senedd from 1999 to 2011 and again from August 2018 until 29 April 2021. Background Jones was born in Colchester, Essex. She was educated at Colchester County High School for Girls, Caereinion High School in Powys and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where she was awarded an honours degree in history and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. She has taught in the special education field and has held various positions in youth, community and social work.
