Catherine King (radio Broadcaster)
Catherine Helen King (; 20 December 1904 – 2 January 2000) was an Australian Broadcasting Corporation, ABC broadcaster and community worker in Western Australia. She was the daughter of prominent Australian academic and essayist Sir Walter Murdoch. Biography Born Catherine Helen Murdoch on 20 December 1904 in Surrey Hills, Victoria, Australia, she was the daughter of Violet Catherine Hughston and Sir Walter Murdoch. She married Alexander King, well known as Alec King (born 22 May 1904 in Dorset, England – died March 1970 in Canterbury, Victoria, Australia). They had three children, Walter, Francis and Elizabeth. From 1929, King was associated with the Kindergarten Union: first on the Education Committee and later as part-time lecturer at the Kindergarten Teachers' College. Catherine King is an English mezzo-soprano, best known for her performances and recordings of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque music and also very active in performing classical oratorio, opera and contemporary music. King is an Australian ecotoxicologist who studies sub-Antarctic and Antarctic regions, with a focus on climate change and the impacts of contaminants and environmental stressors in terrestrial and marine ecosystems. King's multi-disciplinary ecotoxicology research program focuses on the ecotoxicity of metals, fuels, contaminant mixtures and other environmental stressors associated with a changing climate, on Antarctic and sub-Antarctic species. Kaki King (born Katherine Elizabeth King, August 24, 1979) is an American guitarist and composer. King is known for her percussive and jazz-tinged melodies, energetic live shows, use of multiple tunings on acoustic and lap steel guitar, and her diverse range in different genres. Cathy King (born September 3, 1959), formerly Cathy Borst (Cathy's married name was Borst - when she divorced she went back to her maiden name of King) is a Canadian curler from St. Albert, Alberta. She is a former Canadian champion skip and world championship bronze medallist, and 2013 world senior champion. Curling career King was a national junior champion in 1977 and 1978, before there was a women's world junior championship. In 1988, she played for Alberta at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, losing in the final. She has been in seven Scotties Tournament of Hearts (1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2005, and 2006). Kitty King (born 10 August 1982) is a British Olympic eventing rider. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro where she finished 30th in the individual and 5th in the team competition. King also participated at three European Eventing Championships (in 2005, 2015 and 2021).
