Catherine Coquery-Vidrovitch
Catherine Coquery-Vidrovitch (born 25 November 1935 in Paris) is a French historian and Africanist. She is professor emeritus at Paris Diderot University. Biography She graduated from the ''École normale supérieure de'' ''Sèvres'' in 1959. She earned her third cycle doctorate from the ''École pratique des hautes études'' in 1966. Africanists
African studies is the study of Africa, especially the continent's cultures and societies (as opposed to its geology, geography, zoology, etc.). The field includes the study of Africa's history (pre-colonial, colonial, post-colonial), demography (ethnic groups), culture, politics, economy, languages, and religion (Islam, Christianity, traditional religions).
