Catalonia International Trophy
The Catalonia International Trophy ( ca, Trofeu Catalunya Internacional, es, Trofeo Catalunya Internacional) is an association football friendly tournament organised in Spain by the Catalan Football Federation and which the Catalonia national team plays against another national team. It was created in 2009 and is held annually at the end of December. History Since 1997, the Catalan national team has played an international friendly match nearly every year, coinciding with the Christmas holidays. In 2009, in the context of Catalan aspirations to participate in official FIFA or UEFA competitions, the president of the Catalan Football Federation, Jordi Casals, announced the conversion of friendlies into an annual tournament, named the ''Catalonia International Trophy''. The artist Joan Mora donated a sculpture symbolising the four bars of the Catalan flag as a prize for the winner. Catalonia National Football Team
The Catalonia national football team ( ca, Selecció de futbol de Catalunya) is the official football team of Catalonia. It is organised by the Catalan Football Federation, founded in 1900. The team has been referred to by various names including , and the Catalan XI. As the Catalan Federation is affiliated with the Royal Spanish Football Federation as one of the several Spanish regional football federations, Catalonia cannot be affiliated with either FIFA or UEFA as a national member association and is therefore not allowed to participate in official competitions for national teams such as the FIFA World Cup or the UEFA European Championship. Ferran Corominas Telechea (born 5 January 1983), known as Coro, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a forward.
